New Update
Wicked_ For Good

Usually the trajectory of sequels in the world of films hasn’t been the best but when it’s Wicked, thank God there’s more!

After a rather successful part one about Elphaba and Glinda’s rollercoaster of a friendship, Jon M.Chu’s screen adaptation of Wicked is set for its sequel. Part one literally left us on a defying gravity high note and while we’re still processing Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s vocals, there’s also a lot to unpack for part two! The story has literally just begun and there are a plethora of things in part two that not only connect to the events of Wizard of Oz but change Oz Land as we know it. Not just that, we’re going to have new songs to look forward to in Wicked: For Good which means new choreographies, new costumes and new vocals to be in awe of and sing along to as loud as we can!

Here's what you need to know before Wicked: For Good releases next week!

Why is Wicked part two titled Wicked: For Good?

When the sequel for Wicked was announced last year, it was titled as Wicked: For Good making it a clear reference to one of the popular tracks in the sequel ‘For Good’, sung by Elphaba and Glinda. This marks the fact that the song plays a pivotal shift in the movie’s plot.

Who will be in the Wicked: For Good cast?

Since both films were shot back to back, the sequel will have the exact same cast as the first one. This includes Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater and Marissa Bode. Unless part two has any surprises up its sleeves and intends to introduce characters we’re all lowkey hoping to see!

What does the Wicked: For Good playlist look like?

After watching the first part, Defying Gravity, What is This Feeling, Popular were on loop on our playlists till we got sick of it. At this point, we know every word, every pause, every lyric in the songs and we cannot wait for part two to add more to the list. The sequel will be featuring tracks like ‘Thank Goodness’, ‘The Wicked Witch of the East’, ‘Wonderful’, ‘As Long As You’re Mine’, ‘No Good Deed’, ‘March of Witch Hunters’ and finally the title track ‘For Good’. We will also be hearing reprised versions of songs from part one like ‘No One Mourns The Wicked’ and ‘I’m Not That Girl’.

What does the plot look like for Wicked: For Good?

Part two will dive into the aftermath of where part one left us. Elphaba has fled Oz land and Glinda is now ‘Glinda the Good Witch’. The Wizard and Madame Morrible are still in cahoots to run their campaign against Elphaba and make her look like the bad one. Fiyero is appointed by the wizard to find Elphaba but he secretly wants to help her out. Glinda announces her engagement to Fiyero without his knowledge and Nessarose becomes the mayor of Munchkinland. But of course, how all of this ties up to us seeing a glimpse of the iconic Wizard of Oz story in the middle of all of this, is what will pull a majority of the audiences to the theatres.

Lastly, but most importantly, will we see Dorothy in Wicked: For Good?

The director of Wicked, Jon M.Chu said in an interview that Dorothy will indeed be playing a significant role in the sequel. In the trailer, we saw a short glimpse of Dorothy and her gang, the lion, the tin man and the scarecrow from the back but if it’s just that or there's more to it is something that still creates hype amongst the audience till the release of the film.
