Netflix has finally dropped the Qala trailer, in which we see a story of a singer who slowly starts losing a sense of reality as she becomes more and more famous. The film is set in the 1940s and follows Qala Manjushree played by Triptii Dimri. Qala has a beautiful voice and is at the peak of her career. She is honored with Gold Vinyls, adored by fans, and even gets featured in the newspaper with the Prime Minister. But she starts feeling threatened when she sees her new competition Jagan (Babil Khan) who not only could replace her in the movie but also gets paid more than her.
In her personal life, she still does not have the approval of her mother (Swastika Mukherjee) and has a really complex relationship with her. With a rival ready to take over her career and an unconventional upbringing by her mother, her personal demons eventually start catching up to her and what we see is all her insecurities coming to life in front of her. We see her sliding into depression but she isn’t afraid of asking for help either.
