In a series of rapid-fire questions, we spoke to Abhilash Thapliyal in his most candid avatar about his upcoming projects like Faadu!

Often it’s a dream for most actors to be recognized by their character’s name rather than their own. And is seems like for Abhilash Thapliyal that came as a blessing in disguise as SK Sir in Aspirants. If you ask anyone who has watched Aspirants they will in an instant recognize Abhilash as SK Sir and if you ask someone who hasn’t watched Aspirants, they will also be able to recognize him as that. And if that doesn’t tell you his mastery of craft, we don’t know what will! After the show, Abhilash has been getting tons of offers for various projects and you might have seen him in Anand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan recently with Akshay Kumar or recently in Blurr with Taapsee Pannu. In a candid conversation with him, we catch up with him on his upcoming projects Lakhot, Faadu, and Maidaan, and his experience of working on them.

While talking to Abhilash, I felt so much at ease because he had such poetic and insightful responses to give that you could just listen to him talk for hours. Maybe that comes with being an RJ as well. He talks about his characters, his experience of working with Amit Sharma, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, Anand L Rai, Taapsee Pannu, Saiyami Kher, Pavail Gulati, and many more people, how he feels about all the love he received for SK Sir, manifesting working with Boman Irani Sir, and a piece of advice for all.

When asked about his experience working in Faadu (currently streaming on SonyLIV) and with Ashwini Iyer, Pavail Gulati, and Saiyami Kher here is what Abhilash had to say:

“Faadu’s story was amazing which called out to me and I became part of the project in the last part…and the part is of an alcoholic, addictive which was a challenge…working with Ashwini was an A+ experience, her working style is different but superb to work with..most of my scenes are with Pavail and what they say in the industry about a co-actor is that I will eat the scene that holds no truth for Pavail. He is an actor who makes a scene more beautiful..he always uses to ask me questions which empowers a co-actor so much… and with Saiyami it was fun pro max, she is mad for sports, and with her conversation goes beyond acting, and both of them are dil ke bhot saaf…”
