After a lackluster pilot episode, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms picks up in terms of its storytelling and how it ties up to the GOT timeline!
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms review: Based on the Hedge Knight novellas, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms focuses on a time period in Westeros that was comparatively peaceful compared to its prequel 'House of the Dragon' or its predecessor 'Game of Thrones'. It is set in a time where the Dance of the Dragons has doomed the Targaryen house of its power which are their dragons and while the house still rules the iron throne here, the only thing keeping them there is their long legacy and the frightful aura you get from a Targaryen.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms though revolves around a hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall(Peter Claffey) and Egg(Dexter Sol Ansell), a 10 year old Targaryen prince in disguise as he wants to stay away from his family. Egg insists on being Ser Duncan’s squire who really wants to participate in a tourney to prove his skills to the rest of the noblemen. But things go south when he tries to save a girl he fancies from a ruthless Targaryen prince and ends up throwing a punch or two at him. Because he has hit someone who is in line to the throne, Ser Duncan has to now face a trial by the seven which becomes this season’s most awaited arc and the best episode in the series so far!

With season 1 ending with luck being on Duncan’s side and Egg still following him along his journey, it has made the GOT fandom long for the next season and see how these two misfits end up at the top of the hierarchy against all odds! Compared to other Game of Thrones shows, this one has been reduced to half an hour episodes which makes it easier to follow a story we do not know much about. Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell play their characters with sincerity and become the reason why we start liking this new GOT prequel!
With a completely new take on the Targaryen household, here’s hoping that this non-CGI dragon series takes a lot less time to come up with its next season because we’re waiting to see how this underdog story unfolds!
