New Update
Bridgerton season 4 part 2

The ton has gathered again, this time to witness a scandalous season like never before!

Bridgerton season 4 part 2 review: “Will you be my mistress?” These were the words of despair uttered by the most eligible bachelor of the ton at the end of Bridgerton s04 part 1. It left us all shooketh and in disbelief of how oblivious Benedict Bridgerton has been all along. His proposal to Sophie not only made her feel disrespected but also showed that he was a man of privilege and class, who’d never had to face the struggles of the world. Part 2 builds from that pivotal note and no longer is about the chase between the two but the fact that they have to face the truth of their situation.

As Sophie refuses to be a hidden secret in a man’s life and demands respect out of someone who she thought loved her, it forces Benedict to introspect on himself and re-evaluate what the best case scenario could be for both of them. Sophie putting her foot down makes her one of the most compelling leading ladies of the series and Benedict’s character development in part 2 makes him endearing and charming. Both Yerin Ha and Luke Thompson continue to show us why they are the most suitable picks for playing the leads for an arc the audiences have looked forward to seeing since season 1! Benedict and Sophie are burdened by their place in society. While Sophie is on the fence about accepting a love that feels too good to be true, Benedict learns that love without intent and responsibility is just bad manners!

If there’s anything that all Bridgerton’s are taught to do it's to find true love, come what may. And while Benedict does that, society’s rules and expectations deeply frustrate him for turning his love into a forbidden fruit. He is forced to confront what it means to choose, to sacrifice and what is at stake for the life he wants to live. His love story’s core is the tension between his own desire and inherited expectations and it makes for a compelling love story as we root for the two to be together!

Part 2 also marks the return of a beloved Bridgerton sibling. Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) returns with his bride, Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) and his adorable son, Edmund. Their marriage serves as a testament to when love survives the test of time, everyday feels worth waking up next to a partner you truly love. But while Anthony’s return had us delighted, a plethora of sub-plots in part 2 often overweighed the main story line, making us long for Benedict and Sophie, just as they longed for one another.

Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) saddening fate this season let grief sit at the table along with romance. The Queen (Golda Rosheuvel) is finally learning how to live outside the bubble she created for herself. Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmel) is once again choosing herself whilst also getting the Mama of the Year award from her children, yet again! With Hyacinth’s (Florence Hunt) impatience to enter the season, Penelope(Nicola Caughlin) choosing a new path for herself, Eloise (Claudia Jesse) finally coming around to the idea of companionship, Lady Danbury(Adjoa Andoh) saying her final goodbyes and Lady Araminta Gun(Katie Leung) continuing to be her cruel self, there was a lot stuffed together in these four episodes that makes you wish our leads had more time to breathe!

Bridgerton is also popularly known for its sex scenes and the intimacy between Benedict and Sophie is hot and steamy, quite literally, thanks to the bath tub scene! As Benedict finally sees Sophie as more than just a mistress and the two fight the world to be acknowledged as equals, this Cinderella story gives us love confessions that leave an impact! It reminds us why love endures and how romance is not just longing glances across a ballroom but about knowing each other’s flaws and loving each other anyway. With season 4, Bridgerton yet again keeps its promise of giving us a love story to swoon over!
