In an era that’s so fixated on being the perfect version of themselves, Do Deewane Seher Mein reminds you to be easy on yourself!
Do Deewane Seher Mein review: All of us have deep insecurities about ourselves. Some hate the way they look, some hate the way they talk, some don’t give themselves a chance to fall and make a mistake. We’re all running a tight ship here and everyone’s running in a rat race that leads to nowhere. Sometimes these insecurities are so deep rooted that we feel we aren’t loveable or don’t deserve the love we’re getting! Thankfully, love has a way of getting through the cracks and embracing you regardless!
Based on this thought is Ravi Udywar’s Do Deewane Seher Mein which revolves around two young Mumbaikars who step out every day with dreams of making it in this city. Roshni(Mrunal Thakur) works for a magazine that fixates on beauty above everything else. Even growing up, she was told that she was the ‘less beautiful’ sister. As she grew up, she convinced herself that her nose is her biggest flaw about her face. So much so that she puts up walls around her and rejects anyone who tries to cross them. On the other hand, there’s Shashank(Siddhanth Chaturvedi), who works in a Seoul based electronics company. He has a slight speech impairment and that becomes the reason for his confidence taking a hit and the reason behind his anxiety especially when asked to present for a meeting or in front of a crowd.
When Shashank and Roshni meet for an arranged marriage proposal, Roshni lets her preconceived notions about him get the better of her but on the contrary it was love at first sight for him. Even though their first meeting isn’t the most ideal one, their love slowly and steadily takes it one step at a time. Amidst a plethora of rom-coms today where either the story fails to make a connection or just takes an overly done and dusted trope, Do Deewane Seher Mein feels rather relatable to every 20 something year old out there.
Growing up in the social media generation, we tend to constantly compare ourselves to others but this film reminds us to just be who we are and love ourselves despite all our imperfections. That love isn’t something that’s earned or keeps you on eggshells but something that makes you feel safe and loves you for exactly who you are. The flaws you count in your mind could be the reason why someone else falls in love with you. The pictures you hate clicking, could look like the most beautiful thing ever if clicked from the lens of a loved one. Because beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and we all find our own beholder one day!
Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur make for a good on-screen pair. There’s chemistry between the two from the first scene itself and you want to see how they further develop these characters with a touch of sincerity and light-heartedness. While towards the end, the film starts feeling a little slow-paced, the intent of the film stays intact and portrays how all of us have something we’re going through but it is solely up to us to get up and overcome our fears. Do Deewane Seher Mein is indeed that sweet and simple tale of love you’d like watching over the weekend!
