Nobody Wants This season 2 review

Starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, Nobody Wants This season 2 is peak weekend binge that confuses you by the end. Here’s why!

Nobody Wants This season 2 review: After gaining so much love last year, Erin Foster’s Nobody Wants This is back with a season 2. The hot Rabbi and the podcaster are set to take their relationship to the next level but there’s so much they need to figure out before that! Just like Joanne, we thought Noah has left it all for a life with her but turns out he still expects the same ‘convert to Judaism’ bit out of her, it’s just that he is letting her find her calling and do it at her own pace. But everyone around Noah, from his mom to the people at his temple, do not wish to be as patient as he is with his relationship and hence it leads to consequences he wasn’t ready for!

Joanne, on the other hand, still unsure if she’ll ever convert, feels a certain amount of pressure and anxiety around it throughout the season. But religion isn’t the only thing the two haven’t figured out, its even basic things like what’s okay to share on a podcast, dealing with Noah’s mother and balancing their other relationships into their own. Throughout the entire season, the show keeps the essence of uncomfortable conversations and portraying a real relationship at the forefront, which is why by the end of it, Joanne’s decision makes everything feel anti-climatic! Season 2 definetely starts off strong, gives you a sense of comfort and then loses that charm and magic of its previous season in the latter half.

Along with Noah and Joanne’s relationship, Morgan (Jennifer Lupe) also does a lot of the heavy lifting with keeping this season alive. It was either her outfits that had my attention or her reckless decisions like dating her therapist who she knows nothing about that made me go, "where did this come from?" Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Esther(Jackie Tohns) introspect on their relationship as well and finally realize the truth that they have been brushing under the carpet for a while now! This season gives us three different couples in three different stages of their relationship and how each of them navigate it in their own way for better or for worse. While that’s what keeps this show real, the execution of it all in the bigger scheme of things, just does not hit you hard enough!

For a show that’s titled ‘Nobody Wants This’; we hundred percent wanted that Leighton Meester cameo and, as expected, she completely owned the scene when she arrives. Adam Brody did not hold back on the meta humour in that episode and from saying "she’s not my type" to clicking selfies with her, the two are bound to melt us early 2000s kids! Seeing her back on-screen after so long also reminded me of the impact Blair Waldorf made on an entire generation and how we need to see her on our screens more often!

The ending, just like Noah and Joanne makes me wonder what really comes next. For someone who was expecting all the rom-com feels from this season as well, it left me with a lot of questions. Despite the dissapointment and this season feeling like something you’d just keep playing in the background while you scroll on Instagram, I still feel hopeful for a fairytale ending for the two of them at some point!

Nobody Wants This season 2 is currently streaming on Netflix!
