Twitter exploded with #SayNo2FakeNews after an audio clip from Suresh Kochattil of RSS went viral. In the clip Kochattil is heard saying that majorly the rich and middle class people have been affected by the Kerala floods, and that people should make donations to an RSS affiliate organisation –Sewa Bharati.
This put people all across in a rage. And why not? We all know that citizens, especially the less privileged have been drastically affected. Additionally, the official RSS page shared an old image of its workers selling it as working towards Kerala flood relief.
It was so saddening to read that in a time where we all need to stand together and help our fellow citizens recover, our politicians are trying to bank on it for political gains? Where did we lose our morals? And what are we taking our nation towards if people like these will be leaders?
Although the silver lining here is that the youth brought it to light and seem determined to put these politicians DOWN! This also brought about various other fake news that have been used to fool people.

During the #KeralaFloods I was deeply disturbed how even the nicest people shared fake news, spread hate. It was unprecedented behavior in the face of calamity.— Preeti Sharma Menon (@PreetiSMenon) August 22, 2018
We need to change this.
Request all citizens of India to stand up against fake news.#SayNo2FakeNews
BJP were first movers of trolls & #FakeNews They took a medium with potential 4 positivity & abused it. They spent billions, conditioned minds & created a culture of digital mobs. Now IT mantri meets @WhatsApp CEO & gives gyan. Mantriji, start with BJP’s IT cell #SayNo2FakeNews— Derek O'Brien (@derekobrienmp) August 22, 2018
Looking at all the news that have been used to manipulate us just shows how naïve our leaders think we are. It is high time we show them that is not the case and united, we can bring them down.
Do your bit by contributing to #SayNo2FakeNews and make this movement bigger and stronger.
