From New Year rituals and throwback trends to pop culture moments and honest reflections, social media this week gave us plenty to scroll, react to, and talk about.

There’s never really a quiet moment online, and this week proved that once again. From trending conversations to familiar internet rituals making a comeback, social media stayed busy with people sharing, reacting, and jumping into whatever caught their attention.

Some conversations that caught our attention

The internet can’t stop talking about the Stranger Things finale

The Stranger Things finale landed this week, and of course, the internet couldn’t look away. Feeds were packed with fan theories, character edits, and people replaying the exact moments that made them pause, rewind, and just sit there in disbelief. Some scenes genuinely caught viewers off guard, others stayed with them long after the episode ended. Naturally, everyone had an opinion, and social media turned into a shared space of reactions, emotions, and conversations about this season.

Looking back at the year 2025

The biggest conversation on social media this week, without a doubt, was the New Year. Along with it came several trends, including one where people compared their vision boards with how the year actually turned out. Through posts and videos, users reflected on the highs and the not so great moments, sharing honest recaps of the year while holding on to hope and optimism for 2026.

The grape ritual everyone is trying before 2026

So if you’ve been wondering why everyone suddenly starts buying grapes around New Year’s, here’s why. The tradition involves eating one grape with each of the twelve clock chimes at midnight on December 31. Each grape represents good luck and prosperity for one month of the coming year. Finishing all twelve before the chimes end is almost a little challenge and is believed to bring good fortune for the year ahead. And honestly, even people who don’t really believe in it have been giving it a shot, because no one wants to take chances with 2026.

Childhood crush confessions

It also feels like this is the week when everyone suddenly starts confessing their childhood crushes. There’s a trend going around where people first assume your childhood crush had to be SRK, only to follow it up by revealing who it really was.

Open your eyes if….

It’s a fun trend where you and your friend agree on something, open your eyes, and instantly see how different your preferences actually are. Simple and surprisingly revealing, it’s turned into a cool party game people are trying out with friends.
