The Suicide Squad Trailer: The DC bad guys get a comic makeover

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad trailer dropped in recently and the DC bad guys seem to be in an unexpected persona in this one.

The trailer of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is here and it feels like the DC bad guys are getting a comedy makeover as opposed to the loathed 2016 one. Just as a few days back, HBO Max banked on the Justice League Snyder Cut and is trying the method again with another of its most hated films. Though it is still unclear whether it's a reboot or sequel? One thing is clear though the patent style of mixing superhero and comedy of James Gunn can be seen throughout the trailer. He’s become known for this unique style after the success of MCU’s Guardians Of The Galaxy movies.

The basic storyline from the DC superhero universe remains the same. However, the government recruits supervillains to do missions, because they’re expendable and can be forced to do their bidding by putting an explosive charge in their head which can detonate at any time. While much of the core cast remains the same as the 2016 film, like Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, and Jai Courteney as Captain Boomerang, there are many new faces added. There’s the new team lead in Idris Elba as Blood Sport, John Cena as The Peacemaker (who’s also to get his own spin-off series next year), Peter Capaldi, Pete Davidson, and Sylvester Stallone-voiced King Shark.

Gunn’s DC debut is supposed to release on August 6th in theatres worldwide and on HBO Max in the US. As to whether it’s getting a streaming release in India as The Snyder Cut did, remains to be seen. You can enjoy the trailer here though:
