Revisiting the magic that was created by The Beatles years ago and will last for generations to come!

An English rock band, The Beatles was formed in Liverpool, England in 1960 with an artistic set of line up comprising John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr have been the leading band of all times. It was active for about 10 years from 1960 to 1970, comparatively a short life for a band with such seismic influence. This band was deeply rooted with skillfle, beat and 1950s rock and roll with elements of classical music and traditional pop in unconventional ways. The band later explored different music styles varying from Indian pop, ballads to psychedelia and hard rock. As an ambassador in songwriting, music composition and recording, The Beatles revolutionized many folds of the music industry and were publicized as the era’s youth and sociocultural movements.

The most evergreen songs of The Beatles is “Hey Jude”, “She Loves You”, “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “The End”. The Beatles have been nominated twenty-two times for Grammys and won seven of them. They have also won four Brit Awards and an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. The band holds the record for most number-ne albums to top UK Albums Chart and most number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They are also among the most singles sold in the UK. The band has certified sales of over 183 million units in the US and estimated sales of 600 millions units worldwide making it the best-selling music act of all times.

The band broke up after its members started to assert individual artistic agendas. Their dispute became most evident on The White Album of 1968. Quarrels and disharmony took over their music matters and soon after they split in as individual artists. The final time four of them stood together collectively was the session for Abbey’s Road’s closing track “The End” on 18th August 1969. Post the break-up all the four members of the band enjoyed individual success as solo artists. Lennon was shot dead in December 1980, Harrison died of cancer in November 2001 while McCartney and Starr are still musically active.

The lesser-known fact about The Beatles is that they travelled to Rishikesh in Northern India to participate in Transcendental Meditation training course at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The retreat and the discipline proved to be beneficial as many songs were written during this period. The ashram is now renamed as “The Beatles Ashram” after their retreat.

Furthermore, there are numerous documentaries, movies as well as books on the most iconic band of all times.
