Netflix's docu-series The Romantics, without a doubt, released on the day of love and here's what the Bollywood fanatics had to say about the show!
The Romantics, directed by Oscar and Emmy nominated filmmaker, Smrithi Mundra, digs deep into the birth and journey of Yash Raj Films and how the genius father son duo, Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra created such a huge empire in the Hindi film industry and gave a new definition to the genre of romance. The four episode docu-series interviews more than 35 icons from Bollywood which includes Rishi Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Amitabh Bachchan, to name a few, who give a perspective on 50 years of cinematic history.
Most of the Janta believes this was the best Valentine’s Day plan they could’ve asked for. To be able to sit at home and binge-watch a series about how their favourite romantic movies were made struck a chord with many. They became super nostalgic while watching the show and missed the old school love they showed in the movies. But without a doubt the highlight of the web-series was finally getting to see an exclusive interview of Aditya Chopra. The man behind Yash Raj Films today, explains how he has been working hard since he was a kid, how he still goes to the theatres every Friday to understand what the audience likes and dislikes. Getting to see what goes on in his mind was intriguing for many. The Romantics was a heartwarming and emotional journey for all the ‘romantics’ who watched the series.

Netflix’s The Romantics is fantastic. More importantly, the way they talked about film during the intro of episode 1 is THE REASON why I’ve always been such a hopeless romantic my entire life. Bollywood never led me astray. It led me to my own love story. @netflixgolden @netflix

'The Romantics' on Netflix.
What a beautiful tribute to Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra and their legacy.
Must watch for every Hindi speaking person.
It's a deep dive into their very private lives, and so much nostalgia. #TheRomantics

I am watching the Romantics docuseries on Netflix and I am still confused that Shah Rukh Khan was an action star and bad guy before DDLJ. Everything I saw with the dude when I started watching Indian cinema was romantic lead.

I remember watching Lamhe, Chandni, DDLJ etc. on a small green videocon TV all through the 90s ♥️😂
Bollywood, in its present state, is so full of shit! 🤮
Watched The Romantics on Netflix and wow the DDLJ episode really struck a chord. We desis will always seek our parents’ validation and it’s not the weakness one might think it is even if it means fighting for love.

I’m enjoying The Romantics but so far it seems to be one of Netflix’s made for fans style documentaries (like the one on BlackPink or the Harry and Meghan one) - it’s very much Bollywood’s view of itself with very little critical evaluation of its grand claims.

I’m watching “The Romantics” on Netflix and as the poster child for Bollywood fanatic, I am so fascinated. In case you like films AT ALL please watch it because you’ll remember what Bollywood is supposed to be and not the hell hole it is today. I love it so much.
