Thomas Jeffery Hanks has undoubtedly been one of the most loved faces in Hollywood. He started his career in 1980 and has given numerous critically and commercially acclaimed movies since then. His boyishly handsome looks and splendid acting has won hearts all over the world. Especially the ladies!

On the 63rd birthday of this great actor, we have compiled a list of 10 of his movies that are simply amazing and not to be missed out on! Presenting the best of TOM HANKS:

1. Forrest Gump (1994)

This was a movie that portrayed the conditions of the presidencies of Kennedy and Johnson, Vietnam, Watergate, and other history unfold through the perspective of an Alabama man with an IQ of 75. It is still considered one of his best works!

2. The Green Mile (1999)

This movie was a drama that showed the lives of guards on Death Row and how they are affected by one of their charges: a black man accused of child murder and rape, yet who has a mysterious gift. Truly a masterpiece!

3. Cast Away (2000)

Hanks plays the role of a FedEx executive who has to transform himself physically and emotionally to survive a crash landing on a deserted island. A perfect mix of romance and adventure!

4. Angels and Demons (2009)

The movie is about a Harvard symbologist who works with a nuclear physicist to solve a murder and prevent a terrorist act against the Vatican during one of the significant events within the church. This mystery will keep you hooked to your seats!

5. The Terminal (2004)

In this comedy-drama, Tom plays the role of an eastern immigrant who finds himself stranded in JFK airport, and must take up temporary residence there. The film is partially inspired by the 18-year stay of Mehran Karimi Nasseri in Terminal 1 of Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, from 1988 to 2006.

6. The Da Vinci Code (2006)

Based on the famous novel by Dan Brown, this movie is truly a thriller that investigates a murder inside the Louvre, and clues in Da Vinci paintings, that lead to the discovery of a religious mystery which could shake the foundations of Christianity.

7. Saving Private Ryan (1998)

Following the Normandy Landings, a group of U.S. soldiers go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in action. This movie gives you the combination of Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. Who could ask for more!

8. Captain Phillips (2013)

This movie is the biography of Captain Phillips and the 2009 hijacking of the Somali pirates of the U.S. Hanks was known for his unusual yet strong movie choices and this was one of them!

9. Catch Me If You Can (2002)

Di Caprio, Tom Hanks, Spielberg –you name the legend and this film had it! This was another interesting biography of Frank Abagnale Jr. who, before his 19th birthday, successfully forged millions of dollars' worth of checks while posing as a Pan Am pilot, a doctor, and a legal prosecutor.

10. A League Of Their Own (1992)

This was a light hearted family drama with an amazing script and star cast. The movie was about two sisters who join the first female professional baseball league and struggle to help it succeed amidst their own growing rivalry.
