Amar Singh Chamkila trailer

The Amar Singh Chamkila trailer gives a snippet into the life of a rockstar right until the fateful day he was assassinated.

Amar Singh Chamkila trailer: Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Amar Singh Chamkila has everyone’s favorite Diljith Dosanjh playing the titular character and also stars Parineeti Chopra as Amarjot Kaur. The film is a biopic and portrays the entire trajectory of the rockstar of Punjab. He gained fame in an era where people were going crazy over Elvis Presley so he just called himself the ‘Elvis Presley of Punjab'. Apart from his name, he also aimed as high as him and garnered record breaking streams. The songs that he wrote had such divided opinions all over Punjab. There were people who were absolutely offended by his lyrics, especially the way he described women in his songs. And then there were his fans who were head over heels in love with him and the music he created.

The trailer starts with him singing in a wrestling field and how he goes from that to resonating with an entire state. How he finds his singing partner Amarjot Kaur, and together they make sensational music that made such a huge mark. But his fame is what became his biggest enemy as well. Because the conservative people of Punjab were so repelled by his lyrics, they ended up assassinating him at the mere age of 27. Diljith looks uncanny as the late artist and brings his own take on what Amar Singh’s personality must’ve been like.

The music for the film is helmed by Grammy Award winner A. R. Rahman and Irshad Kamil has penned down the lyrics. Since this film is directed by Imtiaz Ali, you cannot help but see a glimpse of Rockstar in this film as well. Amar Singh Chamkila will be available for streaming on Netflix from April 12.
