The feeling between two teams, their fans and spectators back home are weaved together in this documentary that is bound to be rather gripping!
We win some, we lose some but when it comes to India vs Pakistan, baaki saari matches ek taraf and India Pakistan ek taraf. There aren’t many instances where both countries, who aren’t always on the best of terms, come face to face to do a riff off! So it goes without saying that people from both sides are waiting with bated breath to bag the win. But the documentary portrays how when these two teams play it’s no longer ‘just a cricket match’, you can actually feel the partition through the screen. It comes down to our ‘izzat’, our fragile egos, and above anything - politics. Neither India nor Pakistan is rooting for a win, both are actually rooting for the other’s loss and the documentary’s main goal is to bring that out.
The trailer starts with visuals of jam-packed stadiums, capturing the intensity of it all. Then come short glimpses of interviews by legendary cricket players from both the teams. From India, there’s Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar, Shikhar Dhawan and Virendra Sehwag who calls this rivalry ‘nothing less than a war’. From the Pakistan team, there’s Shoaib Akhtar and Inzamam-Ul-Haq who recall unheard stories of the high octane clash over the years! Releasing on February 7, the series is directed by Chandradev Bhagat, Stewart Sugg and is being produced by Grey Matter Entertainment Productions. The documentary will be out on February 7 on Netflix, a couple of weeks before India plays opposite Pakistan in the ICC Championship Trophy 2025 on February 23. So we will be witnessing it all unfold on-screen and IRL!
