Heeramandi trailer

The Heeramandi trailer gives us an insight into what we can expect on May 1 from the courtesans of Lahore and all the politics that surround the story.

Heeramandi trailer: After an impactful first look of the show which got all of us intrigued to know more, the trailer gives us a good enough feel of what Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s OTT debut is going to be like. It transports us to the district of Heeramandi where Mallikajaan (Manisha Koirala) rules over an elite house of courtesans. She has the last say on everything, be it in her house or in politics, until one day the daughter of her nemesis, Fareedan (Sonakshi Sinha) returns and ruffles all her feathers, creating tension in the house. But it is not just about the politics inside the house; the politics outside is the main crux of the story. Revolutionaries are fighting for India’s freedom from the British rule and Bibbojaan (Aditi Rao Hydari), one of Mallikajaan’s daughters, also joins the fight for independence.

On the other hand, Mallikajaan’s youngest daughter, Alamzeb (Sharmin Sehgal) falls in love with the son of a nawab and wants to break free of Heeramandi in order to marry him. Glimpses of Richa Chaddha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Fardeen Khan and Shekhar Suman are also seen in the trailer but details about their character are not completely revealed. The plot thickens, the political tension mounts, forbidden love clashes with societal norms and it all unfolds against the backdrop of getting jailed and protesting for Independence. In the midst of this, Mallikajaan and Fardeen also battle for who will be the lady of the house of Heeramandi.

Heeramandi is yet another Sanjay Leela Bhansali epic saga with aesthetics being the main character above all, of course! You get deja vu of his previously successful films like Padmavat, Bajirao Mastani and even Devdas. The series will unfold on May 1 on Netflix.
