Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo bring the world of Oz back to the big screens for Elphaba and Glinda’s final chapter!
It’s been more than a year since the first part of Wicked released and we’ve been obsessed with the magical world that Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) created for us. The dynamic duo had us hooked on to songs like ‘Defying Gravity’ and fun dance moves from ‘What is this Feeling?’ and before we knew it the film became a pop culture phenomenon. From costumes, to dialogues to dissecting every detail of the film, there was enough and more content around it on social media. Directed by Jon M. Chu, Wicked has earned a special place in the hearts of people all over the world because it gave us a deeper glimpse into Oz land beyond Dorothy and Wizard of Oz for the first time! It was eye opening to see that the infamous Wicked Witch of the West had a heart of gold inside her and she was never even wicked to begin with. It opened doors to Elphaba and Glinda’s beautiful friendship over the course of the first movie. But because of the politics of the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh), Elphaba and Glinda were torn apart at the end of the first movie as they found themselves at crossroads about an important decision that they had to take.
The trailer for the sequel begins with where they left us a year ago. Elphaba is still fleeing from Oz’s monkeys as all of Oz land, including Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) are on a hunt for her. From the very beginning of the trailer it's sealed that this is the much needed closure to Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship. We see them lead their own separate journeys due to the consequences of their decisions yet hold space for one another. We see them particularly emotional around one another in the second part and if you’re an avid like me, it’s only going to make you teary eyed. We see short glimpses of Dorothy in the trailer as well. We see her in the iconic blue dress and heels alongside the Tin Man, the Lion and the Scarecrow. One of the major highlights of Wicked is its songs. It is a musical at the end of the day and the trailer for the second film also teases much awaited songs in the fandom like ‘For Good’ and ‘No Good Deed’ which are set amidst magical backdrops in the film. The two minute trailer sure has left fans rather excited for November as it promises high octane drama and more stunning costumes for Glinda, if nothing else! It’s safe to say that we’re ready to swoon over them all over again!

And such an exquisite scene could not be possible if Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande weren’t two of the most talented actresses in all of Hollywood. This… pic.twitter.com/RIRcpOnaZl
