Trial By Fire starring Abhay Deol and Rajshri Deshpande released on Netflix on January 13 and here's the Janta's take on the series!
Trial by Fire is based on a book written by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy, who also serve as the series’ protagonists. The story portrays the awful tragedy where 59 victims perished in the fateful Uphaar fire disaster. The series follows Neelam (Rajshri Deshpande) and Shekhar (Abhay Deol), parents of Unnati and Ujjawal, age 17 and 13 respectively, who went to watch the first day first show of the movie Border and succumbed to the unimaginable situation that occurred that day. It follows their journey of persevering and fighting for the justice of their kids and the rest of victims who fell prey to the mismanagement of the inadequate staff and the cruel administration of the movie theatre. We also get to see brief appearances in the show from veteran actors like Anupam Kher and Ratna Pathak Shah.
The series which is directed by Prashanth Nair, keeps the story authentic and brings out the grief the victims' families had to go through, which can be a little emotionally heavy to watch. But having said that, the Janta also agreed that the series portrays a story that needs to be told. It re-ignites old wounds for many, what they felt when they first saw it on the news or how shook they were. And for those who were not very well-versed with what happened, this series served as an absolute eye-opener for them.

Here's more on what the Janta thinks about this one!
The fact that it took 25 yrs for the sordid truths about the Uphaar Tragedy to be brought to the screen, shows how complicit the system is even in a ‘democracy’. No one cares about the lives of ordinary citizens. #TrialByFire

Unearthing a tragedy & the endless legal battle, #RajshreeDeshpande as the resilient Neelam with the dependable #AbhayDeol by her side will truly make you empathise & root for their cause
EXCEPTIONAL! pic.twitter.com/Ml4CtCfW0X
#TrialByFire is disappointing and rewarding in equal measure. It's amateurish and also smart. Abhay Deol and Rajshri Deshpande are perfect, but the same cannot be said about this show. REVIEW:https://t.co/DrHLh2HmLO

Watched Trial By Fire based on the unfortunate horror of 1997's Uphaar Cinema fire and the subsequent fight fought by the families of victims for more than two decades.
