Early on Tuesday, the Green Zone area of the US embassy in Baghdad was attacked with three rockets sending alert signals.
According to reports, the Iraqi capital’s high-security Green Zone of the US embassy in Baghdad was attacked with three missiles on early Tuesday. A Green Zone is the area that locates various government buildings and diplomatic facilities. Immediately after the attacks happened, sirens would be heard in the entire area, sending alert messages. With no casualties reported, the attacks came in the wake of the rising tension between the US and Iran following the killing of Qasem Soleimani, the Iranian military leader. The US has, however, allegedly blamed the Iran-backed paramilitary group for the attack on the Green Zone.
