Check out the ‘Worm Rani’ aka Vani Murthy who is helping people move closer to nature with her eco-friendly approach to adopting terrace farming and composting.
Yes, it is true we all love our junk food. We love the packaged food that we can prepare in minutes. But we also live in an era where we’re learning more and more about veganism and organic food. People are in constant search of organic vegetables to maintain their health in this polluted environment. While many still depend on expensive market products to deal with their needs, very few consider the option of home farming. However, today we’re here to introduce you to Vani Murthy, who is a pioneer in terrace gardening, home composting, and bio-cleansers.
A member of SWM – Solid Waste Management Round Table, Bengaluru, Vani believes that garbage is green gold. She calls herself the ‘Worm rani’ and has inspired many to take up home composting and terrace farming to grow healthy vegetables for their everyday needs.
The simple desire to reduce her home waste encouraged her to take up composting and to make use of her terrace space for good. Vani has been working towards helping people take up more eco-friendly options in life. She sees her rooftop garden as an urban way to come closer to nature. Her terrace is now home to a variety of vegetables ranging from beans, okra, eggplant, radish, tomatoes, and different herbs etc.
