Vikramaditya Motwane

Vikramaditya Motwane is that filmmaker-producer whose filmography is short but impactful in more ways than one!

Earlier the name of a director-producer-screenwriter wasn't so widely known among audiences until and unless they were legendaries with a bag full of projects. But there are a few names that changed this scenario while changing the landscape of the Indian film industry for the better. One of them is Vikramaditya Motwane, who with just a few projects has built a cult fan following for himself. For many people, his name is often enough to drag you to the theatre or the small screen.

He started his career as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and he's never looked back. His directorial projects include those that live on for ages and cannot be missed like Udaan, Lootera, Trapped, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, and AK vs AK. In spite of being a filmmaker himself, he never backs down from supporting and backing other filmmakers and bringing their projects to the limelight as a producer like with Queen, Hasse Toh Phasse, Ugly, NH10, Masaan, Hunterrr, Udta Punjab, Cargo, Manmarziyaan, Ghoul, and many more projects with Anurag Kashyap, Vikash Bahl, and Madhu Motena under the banner Phantom. He was the writer and creator of many projects as well like Goal, Dev D, and Sacred Games with Anurag Kashyap, other than the directorial projects that were also written and produced by him only.

Adapted from a short story 'The Last Leaf' by O Henry, this film is an underrated gem of a love story that is heartbreaking yet oh-so-beautiful at the same time. It's the most beautiful tragedy that you would have ever seen!

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero - Hotstar/Netflix

It's a film that has supposedly developed a cult fan following for it and is considered to be an underrated gem in the superhero genre. Those who have watched this film have fallen so deeply in love that they swear by it diligently!

Queen - Jio Cinemas

While Queen is simply produced by him, this film is a lesson in independence to all women not just in India but across the world, and should definitely not be missed out on at any cost!

Masaan - Zee5/Hotstar/Netflix

People who haven't seen Masaan have missed out on a great film! This one involves caste politics mixed with real yet cute romance and is so deep-rooted in Banaras that it makes you want to go there.

PS: Cargo, Hunterrr, Trapped, and Dev D are also some of the other films that didn't get as much attention as they deserved!
