Cannes 2025 is going to be an exciting event from the Indian perspective with the festival celebrating both contemporary achievements and historical legacies of the country's entertainment industry. Here is a full list of Indian films, celebrities, and jury representation at Cannes 2025.

Following the glamour and grandeur of Met Gala 2025 in New York, the global spotlight now moves to Cannes Film Festival, the biggest celebration of cinema, fashion, and culture! The 78th edition of the event is set to be held from May 13 to 24 at Cannes, French Riviera. The glamour extravaganza is set to be a star-studded affair with luminaries from the entertainment industries from all across the globe poised to be in attendance. The event this year will feature a notable Indian presence through films, celebrities, and jury representation. However, none of the country's films will compete for the prized Palme d’Or award.

Indian films at Cannes 2025 

Aranyer Din Ratri (Days and Nights in the Forest)  

A restored 4k version of the 1970 Satyajit Ray classic is set to premiere at the festival in the Cannes Classics category. Bollywood veterans and actors of film, Sharmila Tagore and Simi Garewal will be present at the event to attend the screening.

A Doll Made Up of Clay

Helmed by Kokob Gebrehaweria Tesfay, an Ethiopian student at Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), the film has been selected for the competitive shorts section. It centers around the struggles of African migrants in India, especially on low-paid football players in Kolkata facing identity crises and financial hardship.

Homebound

Directed by Masaan fame Neeraj Ghaywan, this sophomore feature is backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and executive-produced by Martin Scorsese. It carries forward Ghaywan’s knack of exploring social commentary in his films and it is a poignant tale of dignity, friendship, and the aspirations of small-town India. The film stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor. Kapoor, Khatter, and Johar are set to attend the event. 

Tanvi The Great

Tanvi The Great will enjoy a world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, within the Marche du Film category. This film is Anupam Kher's second directorial venture after Om Jai Jagdish released in 2002

Indian jury representation

Payal Kapadia

Marking a significant moment for Indian cinema’s influence at Cannes, Payal Kapadia will return as a jury member for the main competition this year. The filmmaker scripted history last year with a Grand Prix win for her film All We Imagine as Light. She will join global cinema figures like Juliette Binoche, Halle Berry, and Hong Sang-soo at the jury.

Indian celebrities set to grace the Red Carpet

Besides, the aforementioned names, the following Bollywood celebrities will be seen walking the red carpet in various capacities.  

 Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt will mark her debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The actress will attend Festival des Cannes as the global brand ambassador of L'Oréal Paris.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to steal the spotlight on the red carpet this year as well. The actress, who has been attending the festival for over two decades, will also be attending the event as the global brand ambassador of L'Oréal Paris.

Urvashi Rautela

Another Cannes veteran Urvashi Rautela will also be seen gracing the red carpet this year. 

Jacqueline Fernandez

Jacqueline Fernandez will make her second appearance, joining other Indian celebrities on the prestigious red carpet.
