Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, continued its sensational run at the box office, earning Rs. 75-76 crore nett over the second weekend. According to trade analyst Sumit Kadel, the figures marked one of the biggest second weekend collections ever and is expected to enter the 300 crore club by Thursday.

With some hits and misses, 2025 has been an eventful year so far, with plenty of Indian films entering the prestigious 100 crore club. Saiyaara’s success comes months after Laxman Utekar’s historical drama Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, registered a record box office collection of Rs. 693 crore, making it the highest-grossing film of the year.

Sankranthiki Vasthunam - ZEE5
A Telugu action comedy, Sankranthiki Vasthunam featured an ex cop helping solve a kidnapping case with unexpected twists. Starring Daggubati Venkatesh, the film was loved by the audiences for Venkatesh's charismatic portrayal of the lead and its unique storyline and collected Rs. 222 crores!

Aamir Khan and R. S. Prasanna's heartwarming venture followed a basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of specially abled players to prepare for a tournament. The film was widely appreciated for its sensitive handling of the subject and the powerful message it delivered through its light-hearted take. The film collected Rs. 201 crore.
Housefull 5 - Amazon Prime Video
A murder mystery comedy, Housefull 5 featured a star-studded line-up with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and others essaying imposters who claim to be the son of a recently deceased billionaire as they compete for his fortune while aboard a luxury cruise ship. The film earned Rs. 200 crore owing to its star cast, catchy music, and strong following of the franchise.
Raid 2 - Netflix
Raj Kumar Gupta’s Raid 2, starring Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and Vaani Kapoor explored the return of IRS officer Amay Patnaik (Devgn), who tracks another white-collar crime. The film was lauded for Devgn’s and Deshmukh’s rock-solid portrayals of the honest official and corrupt politicians, earning Rs.199 crore.
Good Bad Ugly - Netflix
Good Bad Ugly featured a retired gangster who returns to his violent ways after his son is wrongfully convicted. Starring the evergreen Ajith Kumar, alongside Trisha Krishnan, the film captivated the audience for its larger-than-life appeal and collected Rs. 183 crores.
Game Changer - Amazon Prime Video
Game Changer, headlined by Ram Charan, is a gripping tale of political intrigue, emotional turmoil, and personal evolution. Directed by S Shankar, the film was a critical and commercial success owing to a strong storyline and Ram Charan’s unparalleled charm. The film earned Rs. 153 crores.
Thudarum - Jio Hotsar
The third highest earning Malayalam film ever, Thudarum starring Mohanlal saw his character Shanmughan trying to retrieve his beloved Ambassador car after police seizes it, thereby getting tangled in a web of crime and corruption. The film collected Rs. 144 crore courtesy of its emotional and thrilling appeal.
Sky Force - Prime Video
Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, showcased the heroic efforts and sacrifices of Indian Air Force soldiers during the 1965 Indo-Pak conflict. Despite an underwhelming response from critics, the film managed to collect Rs. 130 crore.
L2: Empuraan - Jio Hotstar
A global political thriller exploring international operations of Khureshi Ab’raam (Mohanlal) and the tragic backstory of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Zayed Masood, L2: Empuraan minted 126 crores for its swag, charisma, and technical brilliance.
Dragon - Netflix
This Tamil-language coming-of-age comedy drama directed by Ashwath Marimuthu saw a college drop-out deceptively secure a high-paying job, but is forced to accept a major challenge to avoid being exposed. The film raked up Rs.122 crores at the box office owing to its refreshing storyline exploring heroic battles, emotional bonds and cultural tales.
Sikandar- Netflix
An action drama film, Sikandar followed Sanjay 'Sikandar' Rajkot's (Salman Khan) journey of seeking redemption after a tragic loss. The A. R. Murugadoss directorial minted Rs. 121 crores.
Daaku Maharaj - Netflix
Directed by K. S. Ravindra, Daaku Maharaj starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, followed the story of Seetharam (Balakrishna) who uses his violent past to save a family from the gaze of a corrupt politician and drug kingpin. The action, chartbuster music, and performances by the leads ensured the film earned Rs.109 crores.
Kesari Chapter 2 - JioHotstar
A historic court-room drama, Kesari Chapter 2 explored the heroics of Justice CS Nair, played by Akshay Kumar, who sues the British crown for The Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Despite mixed response from the audience and critics, the film collected Rs.109 crores.
Kuberaa - Amazon Prime Video
Directed by Sekhar Kammula and starring Dhanush and Rashmika Mandanna, Kuberaa explored the themes of greed, ambition, and moral dilemmas. The film earned Rs.106 crores.
Jaat - Netflix
An old-school massy entertainer, Jaat, starring Sunny Deol, was the biggest surprise of the year, earning Rs.103 crore and reinstating Deol’s image as the OG action hero of India!
With an exciting number of star-studded films lined up for the next half, the tally is expected to improve even more. Major films releasing this year include Kantara: Chapter 1, War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, Rajnikanth’s Coolie, and Thama featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, and Pawan Kalyan.
