Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 is living up to the actor's credibility as far as intense thrillers are considered and is registering impressive numbers at the box office.
Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh's crime thriller Raid 2 opened to mixed reviews on Thursday, however thanks to the credibility of the franchise and Devgn’s loyal fan base, the film is going strong at the box office. After registering an impressive Rs.19.71 crore on its opening day (partial holiday), the film continued to rake up solid figures at the box office as its weekend collections stand at Rs. 73.83 crore.
According to Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Raid 2 benefitted from the extended weekend, with Sunday (Rs. 22.52 crore) recording the film’s highest single-day collections so far before minting Rs.13.05 crore and Rs. 18.55 crore on Friday and Saturday respectively.
Interestingly, Raid, the prequel had collected Rs. 63.05 crores in its entire first week, while its successor, Raid 2 has surpassed that total in just four days. The day-wise trend indicates that the film has been accepted by the audience and will soon enter the coveted 100 crore club depending on how it performs from Monday.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the sequel sees Devgn reprising his role as IRS officer Amay Patnaik with Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor joining the film as the antagonist and the female lead respectively. Set 7 years after the events of the first film, it follows the return officer Patnaik who tracks another white-collar crime.
