Here’s a roundup of some of the most interesting and creative social media trends from last week that caught everyone’s attention.
The song "Pretty Little Baby" by Connie Francis has made a comeback, finding its way into everyone’s playlists. People are loving the soothing, nostalgic feel of the track and are using it to create self-love reels, celebrating small moments and reminding themselves to slow down. Speaking of self-love, you know how we all make plans and set goals, but often life gets in the way, and we end up doing much less than we hoped for, making us feel like something’s wrong with us. A new trend on Instagram is showing that this is a shared experience. People are posting reels about what they planned to do versus where they actually are, and while some show progress, the ones showing things not going as planned are standing out the most.
A new and absurdly funny trend took over social media last week called the Chopsticks Selfie trend, where people tried to hold their phones using chopsticks and take a selfie. What made it even more entertaining was how Indian creators added their own Indianness to it by using everyday objects to balance their phones instead of chopsticks, making the trend even more relatable and fun. We’ve all been in situations where we tell ourselves to be the bigger person and not call someone out for their bad behaviour. But a trend that surfaced last week is flipping that idea. People are using the line “A normal person would have let that go” and then showing, through their actions, that they’re not that kind of normal. It’s a reminder that while being rude for no reason is a red flag, there are times when it’s perfectly okay, and even necessary, to call people out for how they treat others. People were also seen dancing and recreating the choreography of Kim Jennie's song "Seoul City," adding their own flair to the trending routine.
