Here's looking at you, #2019! 2018's been a good year. Like every other year, a mix of highs and lows and plateaus (which are worse than lows). For the sake of reminiscing, my top highlights would be: 1. I got my mojo back ?? Burnout is a thing. Recovery after combusting is a painful, long process, that requires extraordinary amounts of introspection, rest and general self-belief. I didn't bounce back overnight; I had to work on myself every day. Feels awesome to be running at 200mph again ?‍♀️?‍♀️ * 2. I learnt to enjoy the spotlight ?? Imposter syndrome is real, mitron. I usually like to keep myself on the DL, don't particularly like putting myself out there (though it's a part of my job.) I don't think I'm even 1% of where I want to be professionally, but I learnt to value my opinion, and have got comfortable with having my opinion valued.* 3. I changed my mind ?? About a lot of things. Most specifically- feminism (thank you Roxanne Gay for your amazing book, Bad Feminist. Everyone should read this!) Our heads are round so our thoughts can change direction, as said by Francis Picabia. He is a G. * 4. I (think I) became a better leader ?️?️ ... without compromising on my ambition. Im much more aware of what I suck at (managing people who want to be managed- just can't do it), and got back to playing to my strengths while working on my weaknesses. Reading (Ray Dalio, Phil Knight, Kim Scott), listening to podcasts (Freakonomics, Masters of Scale, Tim Ferris), spending time with people I respect (shout out to @desirednameunavailable @raghavverma1 and one of our investors, Ashvin Chadha) helped a lot. * 5. I continued to cut out the BS ??? Unfollowing people who don't really add value to your life is a good idea- only exception being the Kardashians. Spending time with people who challenge you, make you laugh till you pee yourself, or just open your mind's eye is a good idea. And not just people- habits, food, exercise- I cut out things that don't add value the way they did, and replaced them with things that do. Yep, Gin replaced wine ?? ** Stoked for the next year and what it'll bring! ?️?️ Onwards and upwards, always. ** Fin. #IGMadeMeDoIt
