Mimi

Mimi is a tale of surrogacy released on Netflix recently and here's what the janta's had to say about this Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi starrer.

Mimi's release was a shock to the fans in the first place since it was released on Netflix four days prior to its initial date of release, July 30. While the reason for this is unknown, there was a lot of speculation around the same. The end result being, elated fans! The janta has been super enthusiastic to watch this light-hearted tale of surrogacy that's being portrayed as a social commentary with a mix of comedy and a stellar ensemble cast.

The film follows the story of a 25-year old girl, Mimi (Kriti Sanon) who wants to go to Mumbai to become an actress. She finds a way to earn money via Jai (Pankaj Tripathi), by bearing a child for a foreign couple. Surrogacy is a concept that is unknown to many and is illegal in India but it's still practiced today. Everything goes according to plan with tickles to your bones here and there. But the problem starts to arise when our rebellious protagonist is stuck with the child as the American couple doesn't want it anymore. Mimi can't do anything but reveal this secret to her family who assumes that their daughter has had a child out of wedlock. After their incessant questioning of who the father is, Mimi points at Jai as the father. Now, what happens further will only unfold when you watch the film.

While the film seems to be a light-hearted take on a serious social matter and its repercussions, the critics have served their verdicts. Let's find out what the janta is saying about it!

The film is based on the acclaimed Marathi film ‘Mala Aai Vhhaychy!’ by Samruoddhi Porey, helmed by Laxman Utekar. The film also brings the team of rom-com Luka Chuppi and the infamous father-daughter duo of Bareilly Ki Barfi back together. What about you, have you watched this surprise release yet?
