On Saturday, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan had a meeting with the First Lady of Turkey, Emine Erdoğan. The actor is in the country to film his next movie.

Actor Aamir Khan who is in Istanbul to film his upcoming movie Laal Singh Chaddha, which is the Bollywood remake of Tom Hanks’ movie Forrest Gump met with the First Lady of Turkey, Emine Erdoğan. While some part has been filmed in India, the rest will be shot in Turkey which is due to begin from October.

The actor met with the First Lady on Saturday, August 15th at the Presidential residence where they had a discussion on various social responsibility projects as well as the similarities between the two cultures. The actor also discussed his water foundation project started by Khan along with his wife Kiran Rao that aims at delivering water in drought zones.

Aamir Khan announced his film on his birthday last year. Although the film was expected to release at the end of 2020 it has now been postponed to Christmas of 2021. The film is directed by Advait Chandan, and will cover major important events from India’s lived history.

However, this has given rise to unnecessary controversy as people on the internet have shared their displeasure. India’s relation with the country has deteriorated in the past several months especially after Article 370 was scrapped in Kashmir last year. The visit happened while India shares a tensed ties with the country as Turkey decided to side with Pakistan with regards to Kashmir.
