An Action Hero is Anirudh Iyer's directorial debut which delves into celebrity culture and the fickle side of fame. Maanav(Ayushmann Khurrana) is a Bollywood star who has just rejected a biopic of a gangster because he wants to stay away from the underworld. Ironically, he's filming in Haryana, and while enjoying his new ride post-pack-up, he ends up accidentally killing Vicky Solanki, younger brother of a notorious gangster and the Municipal Councillor of Mandothi village, Bhoora Solanki(Jaideep Ahlawat), who now wants to avenge his brother's death and kill Maanav. What then ensues is a cat-and-mouse chase that forces Maanav to run for his life.
A cameo from the OG action hero Akshay Kumar to topical jokes that actually made the audience laugh and also pointed out the ongoing state of affairs in our country, An Action Hero proved to be more than just a mainstream Bollywood film for the Janta.

The best part about An Action Hero's comedy is that the jokes were actually landing unlike most comedies lately. AND they were topical. Still laughing at the jibes taken at Arnab, Rubika and Aman Chopra. Also the satire on the society delivered through Ravish Kumar was hilarious.
Saw this film (An Action hero) without any expectations. I think this is the best Hindi film of the year. It had a protagonist who embraced the grey and an antagonist with a motive which was justified. An action hero: great fun movie to watch. action,crime, humour. Some loopholes but still a good movie to watch in theatres. Proves movies can be made without any song or actress. Overall: 4/5
