Ash Barty becomes the first Australian woman to enter into the Australian Open semi-finals since 1984. The Australian tennis star defeated Petra Kvitova in a match of two halves with a score of 7(8)-6(6), 6-2 on Tuesday, 28th January. She became the 1st Australian woman after Wendy Turnbull in 1984 and 1st Australian after Lleyton Hewitt in 2005. It was an intense match of two halves after Barty flexed her muscles in the second half. The match was like a get back after the Barty-Hewitt face-off in the last year's quarter-finals.
