From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s traditional elegance to ’s Homebound getting a thunderous applause, here are the highlights from Day 9 of the Cannes Films Festival!
The glamour quotient continued to soar as the biggest stars from the world of fashion and entertainment industry descended upon the French Riviera as the 78th Cannes Film Festival inched closer to its finale. The grand celebration of style and cinema began last week and has been making headlines for its red-carpet moments, movie premieres, and VIP guestlist. Day 9 of the marquee event was particularly exciting for India as Bollywood diva and Cannes veteran Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her 22nd appearance at the prestigious film festival and Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound premiered at the marquee event.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan graced the red carpet dressed in a handwoven kadwa ivory handloom Banarasi saree with a handwoven tissue drape and imperial heirloom of rubies, designed by Manish Malhotra. She rounded off her look with sindoor that added to the desi elegance of her international look.
It was another moment to cherish for Indian cinema enthusiasts as Karan Johar's production Homebound premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Featuring Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa, the Neeraj Ghaywan directorial received a thunderous 9-minute standing ovation.
The History of Sound, a gay-romance drama by Oliver Hermanus starring Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor also premiered on day 9 of the event. The film too, bagged a six-minute standing ovation.
Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value received a 19-minute-long standing ovation at its premiere. The film starring Elle Fanning is an intimate and moving exploration of family, memories, and the reconciliatory power of art.
Besides Homebound and The History of Sound, Sentimental Value by Joachim Trier, The Last One For The Road by Francesco Sossai, Eugne Jarecki's The Six Billion Dollar Man, and Connemara by Alex Lutz were screened on day 9. The official account of the festival shared posters and jists about the movies and wrote -
"The Competition is in full swing with Carla Simón, searching for her own family history in the highly personal Romería. Oliver Hermanus brings Paul Mescal and Josh O'Connor together in a delicate story of love and music: The History of Sound. Joachim Trier returns to the Festival with Sentimental Value, starring his favorite actress, Renate Reinsve.Un Certain Regard presents the disillusionment of two childhood friends in a northern Indian village in Neeraj Ghaywan's Homebound, and a tale of intergenerational learning and friendship in Francesco Sossai's The Last One For The Road. Alex Lutz settles in at Cannes Première with his new film, Connemara, adapted from Nicolas Mathieu's bestseller, starring Mélanie Thierry and Bastien Bouillon. Presented as a Special Screening, Eugne Jarecki's The Six Billion Dollar Man, retracing the saga of Julian Assange, the emblematic contemporary figure of the right to information and the Wikileaks affair."
