Performances we loved

From Zahan Kapoor to Lakshya, this year delivered a plethora of captivating performances- and here are the ones that truly stood out to us!

There are actors who deliver great performances that make you pause and take notice but then there are performances you simply cannot forget. And while long-format storytelling gives actors ample space to explore their craft and shape a memorable character, it also comes with the risk of leaving a lasting impression for the wrong reasons if something goes off-track. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here. These actors didn’t just arrive with strong screen presence; they brought layered, textured portrayals that lingered with us long after the final episode ended.

Zahan Kapoor - Black Warrant- Netflix

Zahaan Kapoor’s quiet demeanor never reads as a weakness instead, it becomes his biggest strength. He brings a rare balance of restraint and intensity, slipping between the sidelines and the spotlight with ease. Even in silence, he feels like a looming presence, and when the moment demands it, he steps into the centre with sharp, controlled power.

Monika Panwar - Khauf - Amazon Prime Video

This truly feels like Monica Panwar’s year. She can shift from playing an emotionally layered mother in Nishaanchi to portraying a young woman weighed down by past trauma with heartbreaking authenticity. Her performance beautifully captures the push-and-pull of wanting to move forward while being held back by unresolved pain and the quiet, fierce resilience that rises from it.

Lakshya Lalwani - The Ba***ds of Bollywood- Netflix

Lakshya Lalwani’s deep, almost Bachchan-like voice may be the first thing you notice, but it’s his emotional precision that truly anchors him. In a meta-satirical take on Bollywood, he delivers both comedy and sincerity with surprising ease. As Raghav Juyal, becomes the laughing heart of the show, Lakshya brings the emotional real warmth and vulnerability.

Anjali Anand, Jyothika, and Nimisha Sajayan - Dabba Cartel- Netflix

Though the ensemble cast shines with Shabana Azmi, Gajraj Rao and Shalini Pandey delivering standout performances yet there’s a distinct charm in the way Anjali Anand and Nimisha Sajayan inhabit their characters of women who are bold yet afraid, carrying both grit and vulnerability in every beat. And then there’s Jyothika, who anchors the narrative with a beautifully measured performance, balancing restraint with just the right moments of emotional outburst.

Raghav Juyal- The Ba***ds of Bollywood- Netflix

With Gyaraah Gyaraah and Kill, Raghav Juyal was proving to be the next rising star of Bollywood, and with his character Parvez, he sealed the deal as a breakthrough actor we didn’t see coming. Even though he plays the lead’s best friend in the show, his character lingers on our minds way after the credits rolled! He brings comic relief when needed but also delivers emotional scenes with a lot of impact. Not to forget, how his scene with Emraan Hashmi went viral this year and we’re not going to be getting over that anytime soon!

Sunny Hinduja- Saare Jahan Se Accha- Netflix

Sunny Hinduja played the sharp and cunning ISI chief Ali Murtaza Malik in Saare Jahan Se Accha and it was difficult to look at anyone else but him when he was in the frame. His witty dialogue delivery, screen presence and the aura he created around his character, set a sense of fear every time he walked into a scene, which helped make the story so compelling to watch.

Bhuvan Arora - Janaawar and Dupahaiya- Zee5 and Amazon Prime Video

Whether he’s playing a lower-caste police officer in a small town where his identity becomes its own burden or a jilted lover nursing the ache of a one-sided relationship, Bhuvan Arora slips into both worlds with remarkable ease. He brings depth and charm in the same breath, making you feel for him when he’s mistreated and cheer for him when he transforms into a woman to dance.

Anurag Thakur - Black Warrant- Netflix

Despite the show being packed with an ensemble cast that includes strong performers like Rahul Bhat, Paramvir Cheema, and Sidhant Gupta each commanding the screen in their own way, yet Anurag Thakur still manages to shine. His morally corrupt and dark, sinister portrayal of Vipin Dahiya is so arresting that you simply can’t get him out of your mind.

Huma Qureshi- Maharani- SonyLIV

Huma Qureshi in Maharani Season 4 yet again, showed she lives and breathes Rani Bharti as she nails the embodiment of her resilient demeanor, confident tone, and the near-perfect diction that make her super convincing as the character. Her evolution from an illiterate housewife to a commanding political figure, blending strength with a dash of vulnerability showed her depth as an actor.

Sahil Vaid - The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case- SonyLIV

While Amit Sial and the rest of the cast impress you on expected lines, Sahil Vaid, who has been stereotyped into playing hero’s friend and a comic relief in Hindi movies, comes as a pleasant surprise in The Hunt as Amit Verma (SP-CBI). He is convincing as the intense and fiery CBI officer, who is unafraid of confronting his seniors and wears his emotions on his sleeves.
