Formed in 1996, British rock band, Coldplay continues to be one of the most desirable bands with evolving music genres and record-breaking songs.

A British rock band, Coldplay was formed in London in 1996 with vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion. The band was originally called Pectoralz and then Starfish before finally settling for Coldplay.

Coldplay achieved fame with their song Yellow in 2000 and debut album Parachutes, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The band’s second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head was released in 2002 and won many awards, including NME’s Album of the Year. Albums X&YViva la Vida,  Death and All His Friends, received love from their fans and garnered many awards and fame. Mylo Xyloto topped the charts in over 34 countries and became UK’s best-selling rock album of 2011. Ghost Stories and A Head Full of Dreams, both albums were loved by the fans and the band continued its success. In November 2019, their eighth album, Everyday Life received a positive response from all over the world.

The ‘meditative’ and ‘blue romantic’ music, resonates with the emotions and feelings of the band and its members. Coldplay has won numerous laurels their entire career, including Brit Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards and Grammy Awards. Selling more than 100 million records worldwide, the band is one of the world’s best-selling music band till date.

Coldplay has humbly supported various social and political causes, charities, aid programmes and relief funds including Amnesty International, Meat Free Monday campaign, Band-Aid 30 fundraiser, Artists’ Project Earth and many more.

On June 27, the band will be part of the #GlobalGoalUnite For Our Future Concert to combat the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on communities of colour by calling on world leaders to make testing, treatments & vaccines available to everyone, everywhere.
