Tabu - The super versatile actor!

Tabu is one of those few actors from our film industry who is so convincing that she has gained our trust with her skills and choices!   

A performance is where an actor impersonates to be another person and then there is acting where you wouldn't be able to differentiate between the character and the actor; they are the same! Tabu is the latter where her performances alone can make you fall in love with the film. Her talent for convincing us is so effective that it's hard to not believe in anything she is saying or doing onscreen. Even Vishal Bhardwaj has admitted in interviews that he changed his Khufiya male character to a female only because of his trust in Tabu's exceptional talents. 

She is one of those few artists who easily bridges the gap between Indie and commercial films. She is a part of both spaces and even leads independent cinema to achieve commercial success and cult classic status.

Here's why we think she's extremely versatile!

Drishyam (both 1 and 2)

As a police officer who is a mother, she makes you hate her for the way she treats the family but at the same time, you love her for unconditionally loving her son and being a ruthless police officer who gets to the truth. 

Andhadhun

As the wife of an actor who ends up cheating on him and murders him, she makes you think twice before you judge her and put her in a box.

Hum Saath Saath Hain 

As a simple and loyal wife to the eldest brother and dotting daughter-in-law of the family, it is almost unimaginable to believe that it is Tabu playing this character. 

Haider 

As a wife who ends up betraying her own husband and her son who she is in love with, she makes you understand the value of a woman's desire, the plight of a mother, and a woman living in a controversial place like Kashmir. 

Hera Pheri 

As the owner of the house with two pigtails, a bindi, and a chashma as big as her face, she makes you laugh out loud with all her simplicity and comedy. 

Her filmography is filled with such unique choices that she herself as an actor doesn't want to fit in a box. If there are films like Chandni Bar, Maachis, Astitva, Maqbool, The Namesake, Life of Pi then there are films like Saajan Chale Sasural, Biwi No.1, Golmaal 4, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, De De Pyaar De, and so many more!
