Meghna Gulzar decided to direct and bring to life on-screen the real-life tragedy that was inspired by acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal’s story. The movie starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey has already created quite a stir among audiences because of the subject of the film and also Deepika’s appearance at a protest which was held in retaliation to the attack on JNU students. While many appreciated actress on her stance many reacted negatively demanding the actress and her film be boycotted. Just watched Chhapaak. I don't usually watch Hindi movies in theatre, don't particularly like DP. There's no way I'd have gone for this, had it not been for DP's stand at JNU.
