Nidhi & Mohak wedding preps

Creators and newlywed couple Nidhi Kumar Malhotra and Mohak Malhotra share the BTS stories of getting hitched and their #FoundNiMo Shaadi Series.

Getting married is not for the faint-hearted. Beyond the excitement and celebration that brings people together, the wedding season can be just as challenging as it is fascinating. While guests experience their own stresses, the planning and thought that desi couples put into their weddings often go unnoticed. Nidhi Kumar Malhotra and Mohak Malhotra, a couple who recently tied the knot, created a stunning wedding that felt like a dream. Not only did they celebrate their special day, but they also produced content that reflects their love and the joy they experienced throughout the planning process. As individuals with firsthand experience, it's important to recognise the hard work that went into making their wedding a success. While the two managed to pull it off, each had their own experience before D-Day.

Like every other bride, Nidhi was constantly reminded to be relaxed before the wedding, but she also couldn't ignore the stress that came with being a bride. Nidhi managed to deal with it by accepting it. "I think accepting that being stressed is a part of the journey of being a bride definitely helped, but jokes aside, I am very grateful to have a very strong support system in Mohak and my family, who were always there for me whenever I was stressed." Meanwhile, it was not different for Mohak, who could have easily been labeled stress-free, like most grooms face. Unlike popular opinion, he found himself to be anything but chill and involved in every little detail. “We made every decision together, and I think that’s why the wedding was so smooth. Plus, the wedding day is a big day for us as well, as we are getting married to the person we love, entering a new phase of life, and have tons of emotions, but it’s the best feeling ever!"

Balance the creator mindset while enjoying this phase of being a 'to-be-wed':

Weddings today come with the added responsibility of being shared and talked about on the internet, with creator couples who work to create content every day, getting married is another opportunity to create more content. But one cannot ignore the need for them to enjoy their special day without it feeling like a job. Mohak enjoyed being able to create reels at the wedding, something both of them were equally involved in, while ensuring to curate the visual aesthetic of their wedding. “We both understood each other’s vision, and we wanted the wedding to be grand, classy, non-cluttered. The wedding was equal parts Indian and Western to highlight both our cultures.”

However, they credited finding a balance between getting married and being a creator to the efficiency of the wedding social media company, The Wedding Buzz. Mohak mentioned that the majority of the content creation aspect was handled by Nidhi and the ‘The Wedding Buzz’ social media team. Nidhi, “We had multiple meetings beforehand, had a detailed reel idea list, and shot list and ensured that enough time was given to shooting. Once that was done, I could fully be immersed in my wedding and have fun.”

 #FoundNiMo Shaadi Series

Having someone help them film their most chaotic, fun and energetic days resulted in them sharing the #FoundNiMo Shaadi Series. Filmed like a reality show that kept rolling the whole time to capture their most natural ourselves, the series feels like an unrehearsed piece of content, something that serves the real, raw story-loving audience. Nidhi, “We definitely want to put out a lot more dancing content now, that I have seen how well Mohak can dance, but other than that, our Cinematic Universe and fashion content.” While the two were getting ready for their happily ever after, they didn't miss out on sharing this moment with a very special someone, Tiger, their pet. Considering how involved Tiger was in this wedding, Mohak jokes, “Maybe it’s time to make Tiger a star too.”

Deciding what to share:

It’s easier for creators to be carried away when it comes to filming and everything seems like something that deserves to be shared online. Although it is fun, it is deciding which ones you have chosen to keep private is tough. As a bride and creator, Nidhi found the sangeet rehearsals to be the most fun to document because of how chaotic and memorable they were. “While we have actively tried not to hide anything, there were certain sentimental moments and outfit trials that we will be keeping for ourselves.” Mohak also feels that it is something that will surprise and keep their audience hooked to their series.

Knowing when to switch from being creators to just being the bride and groom, ready to start a new chapter with loved ones around them, can be overwhelming. However, the two managed to find a balance, playing one role at a time, and enjoy their special moment, which they would eventually share with their audience.
