Gaming might be huge in India, but it’s not every day you see a 54-year-old math teacher like Rakesh Sharma grow his fanbase in this space. Here's what we know about this new gamer in town.

Gaming in India has taken off in a big way, especially among younger people while most gamers tend to be in their teens or twenties, every once in a while, someone comes along and completely changes the narrative. It's not often you see someone from an older generation making a name for themselves in this space. That’s exactly what Rakesh Sharma has done, and he’s doing it in a way that feels effortless and fun.

By day, Rakesh is a math teacher, helping students with numbers and tricky equations. But once he’s off duty, he swaps the classroom for a gaming setup, enjoying online gaming with an energy that’s won over thousands. At 54, he’s proving that gaming isn’t just for the young—it’s for anyone who enjoys it.

“It all started when I was watching my son play games on his phone,” Rakesh shares. “At first, I was just curious, but then I started playing too. He suggested uploading a few videos for fun, and the response was overwhelming. I never expected this to take off the way it did.” His channel, Beta Aisa Hai, blew up almost instantly. His humorous takes and natural presence in front of the camera made people take notice, and in just a few months, he had a massive audience.

What makes Rakesh’s content stand out is his personality. His sarcasm, quick wit, and effortless humor make his videos entertaining, even for people who aren’t hardcore gamers. His reach extends beyond YouTube, as his Instagram is just as popular, where he keeps fans entertained with the same charm and energy. His rise hasn’t gone unnoticed. Big brands like Blinkit, Swiggy, Myntra, and Prime Video have already collaborated with him.

“I think people enjoy seeing someone like me in this space because it changes the idea that gaming is just for young people. There’s room for everyone,” he says. And he’s right. The Indian gaming industry is booming, but more importantly, it’s becoming more diverse. Rakesh’s story shows that you’re never too old to try something new, pick up a hobby, or even become a viral sensation while doing it. At its core, this isn’t just about gaming. It’s about breaking stereotypes, trying new experiences, and having fun while doing it.
