We caught up with Tarun Kinra to hear what it really felt like to make his debut for Tasva by Tarun Tahiliani at Lakmé Fashion Week 2025.

Some experiences are so vividly imagined that when they finally happen, it feels like they were always meant to be. Walking the ramp at a fashion week was one of those experiences for Tarun Kinra, something he had thought about and visualised many times before it actually happened.

This season at Lakmé Fashion Week, he got to make that dream a reality by walking for Tasva by Tarun Tahiliani, and the experience was full of nerves, excitement, and a sense of achievement. We caught up with him to hear what went through his mind before stepping onto the ramp, how he felt wearing the outfits, and what it was like to see something he had imagined for so long finally come to life on stage.

Here is what he shared:

Right before you stepped onto the ramp, what was going through your mind? Were you feeling nervous, excited, or a mix of both?

Honestly, right before stepping on the ramp, I was just telling myself to enjoy the moment. It was my first-ever ramp walk, and doing it for Tasva × Tarun Tahiliani made it even more special. I was a little nervous, but mostly excited, and I just wanted to soak it all in and live that moment fully.

When you first tried on your outfit, what was your immediate reaction? Did it feel like ‘you’ straight away, or did that connection grow as you rehearsed and walked?

My first reaction was just, ‘Okay, this is different!’ But the moment I wore it properly, it instantly felt royal. That’s the magic of Tarun Tahiliani’s designs; they carry this effortless class. After a few rehearsals, I really started feeling like, yes, this outfit is totally me.

A ramp walk lasts just a few seconds, but the preparation behind it can be intense. Was there a particular thought, feeling, or ritual that helped keep you grounded before going out?

I took a deep breath and reminded myself how far I’ve come. This wasn’t just about walking the ramp; it was about representing my journey. Priyanshu from my team was there with me the whole time, guiding me through the process, hyping me up, and making sure I felt confident before stepping out. That really helped me stay grounded and calm.

Fashion weeks have always been about models and designers, but now creators are joining the ramp too. What do you think this shift says about how fashion is evolving today?

It really shows how much fashion is evolving. Earlier, it was all about models, but now it’s also about stories and real people. Creators bring that connection. It’s not just about what you wear, it’s about how you carry your own vibe with it.

Ifyou had to sum up your ramp walk in a single word or a song, what would it be and why?

If I had to describe it in one word, it would be 'manifested.' That moment, walking the ramp for Tasva × Tarun Tahiliani, was something I had literally visualized a hundred times before it actually happened.
