Whether it's an unexceptional fan of anime or a road that might make you dance with death, here are trends that kept the internet occupied this week.

We’re almost in February now, and it seems there's no end to this winter, but that doesn’t affect the internet. From people exploring the wrong civic sense to Gen Z coming up with new terms, here’s what's trending hot on our feeds.

Conversation:

The reign of zero civic sense

What started with a Reel has turned into a meme fest nationwide, where the conversation swiftly shifted from awareness to humour. In the Reel, influencer Amulya Rattan is seen doing a casual ‘fit-check’ in a public space when a man walks by. She quickly called him out, using the phrase, incorrectly, but iconic, 'zero civic sense.’ She went on to question how the man didn’t even apologise. Soon, the reel went viral, but for all the wrong reasons.

Firstly, in principle, civic sense is the unwritten code of social ethics and responsibilities that an individual should adhere to in a social setting. Secondly, for a long time, influencers have often faced criticism for considering public places as their private studio, where others are supposed to be careful around. So the backlash was very evident; however, before it could lead to a proper conversation regarding how important it is to have the right understanding of civic sense, especially in India, other content creators and netizens were quick to turn it into a trend that presents the misuse of civic sense in bizarre situations as humorous. While there's no harm in this trend, it has sidelined the importance and awareness of the actual lack of sense in the country.  Right after the backlash, Amulya came forward with an apology, but by then, the trend took over the algorithm. Truly, zero civic sense.

All Izz Hell

Content creator Purav Jha released a parody of the famous song 'All Is Well', reimagining it with the social and political state of the country in it. The video soon got a lot of backlash, with many calling him anti-national for showing the harsh reality of the nation. He was quick to respond to these allegations in his own way. Purav clarified that he intended to express what he believes society needs to reflect on for better functioning. He also said that corruption is not the government's responsibility alone and that citizens also contribute to the problem.
