Whether it's the 'Where is my husband' singing challenge or people decoding the art at Kala Ghoda Art Fest, the internet was glued to their screens and here's why.
This week, no one was left living under a rock due to the trends that took over feeds. From Asha Bhosle's revival version of 'Kajra Mohabbat Wala' trending on all reels to people showing their school bullies their insane glow-ups, here's how the week unfolded.
Conversation:
Shifting waves in streaming music videos
Taylor Swift is in the news for reshaping the music industry yet again. She will be released the music video for her next single, 'Opalite', on Spotify and Apple Music. This defies the current norm of streaming music videos on YouTube. Some even claim this move will create exclusivity, which has never been a part of music videos. It has also left many calling her out as greedy while they are infuriated about her choosing the platforms. However, there's a reason for this shift, and it's all connected with charts, especially after Billboard announced a change in its chart measurement. It announced that it will prioritize subscription-based streams over ad-based streams.
Taylor's move could be seen as a strategic decision to solidify her single in the charts, plus since she will be releasing the music video on YouTube on February 8th, the exclusivity charges don't stand. Due to Billboard charts measuring change, we might see many major artist taking their music videos to streaming platforms first before they look over to YouTube.
