Darlings starring Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah was released on Netflix on August 5. Let's have a look at how the Janta reacted to it!
Directed by Jasmeet K. Reen and produced by Red Chilies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Alia Bhatt's banner, Darlings is a bold attempt at infusing dark comedy with a really important message on domestic violence. Badru (Alia Bhatt) falls in love with Hamza (Vijay Verma) under the expectations that she'll live happily ever after with her sweet little family. But little does she know that he would turn out to be a raging alcoholic who'd hit her every night. Her mother, Shamshu (Shefali Shah) has been through similar abuse in her life and wants Badru to leave her husband as soon as possible. But Badru does not want to let go of her plans of having a family with him and stays in the hope of him changing into the man of her dreams someday. There's a limit to everything though and after yet another violent incident that leads to Badru losing something really close to her heart, she finally decides to set him straight in her own way.
Both Shamshu and Badru become a part of quite a messy situation along with Zulfi (Roshan Matthew) who has a secret crush on Shamshu. How they go about things is hilarious to watch but also leaves you numb when you get to see the reality of things.

#DarlingsOnNetflix is incredible. Best Indian movie I’ve seen this yr after #RRR. Alia Bhatt just proved again why she is the best actress in this generation with her nuanced performance. Shefali Shah & Vijay Verma were brilliant as always. A superb & engaging dark comedy. Watch pic.twitter.com/cMW8nzjwOQ

Watched #DarlingsOnNetflix today . A disastrous attempt at making a dark comedy on domestic violence & battered women.Forced acting , disconnected plot 👎🏻

It is slow, intentionally so. The peak and finale take time. The acting is spectacular. Shephali Shah and Alia Bhatt play off each other so well.
I really don't know what the hoopla is. Much more violent revenge have been done before. #darlingsreview
Am I the only one who didn't like #DarlingsOnNetflix ??

A bold but failed attempt at making a dark comedy.
Many loose ends. Dragged a lot. Side characters were not fleshed out. Tried to pack too much in too little time with the story shifting every 5 mins#DarlingsReview
For me the best scene was the parlour aunty coming at Hamza 's funeral & slyly expressing that he died of suicide DESPITE having seen Badru carrying his body & sensing murder.

Entire movie showed that Women standing together is the only way to deal with monsters #DarlingsReview https://t.co/0CshTEkWb1
#DarlingsReview : It is one of those rare movies which are soul satisfying, backed up by a powerful plot and messaging with a bit of clever humour here and there. Trust me not a single second of this 125 min long movie felt boring, was glued for its entirety. Alia ♥️⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5

Watched Darlings , brilliant acting by all in lead, story as well was nice, had subtle twists to it, also it managed to convey the message of domestic violence in a delicate manner. Just that they shouldnt have tried to sell it as a dark "comedy". #DarlingsReview

#Darlingsreview Didn’t quite capitalise on its genre but performances works wonder! @aliaa08 is too good with her performance. @ShefaliShah_ I just got a little crush on your expressive eyes while @MrVijayVarma is the real scene-stealer here.

Darlings is a tale of an innocent lady who goes leaps and bounds to save her abusive marriage . A story that speaks volumes for all those women who give innumerable chances to the man they love, concealing and ignoring the toxicity they bring along.#DarlingsReview#Darlings pic.twitter.com/BG9AEIVqBj

#DarlingsOnNetflix is an average one time watch. 1st half was decent and engaging with some thrilling moments, but the dark humour n writing in 2nd half was not upto the mark. Could have been much better.

Performances by @aliaa08 n @MrVijayVarma is superb.

I recently saw the #Netflix film #DarlingsReview on which gave me some flashbacks of my past, but it is a classic story of love gone wrong. I feel that this film is really essential and should be seen with a grim, serious, & realistic perspective on domestic abuse. @NetflixIndia
