The recent Son of Sardaar 2 might not have delivered the same guilty-pleasure satisfaction that so-bad-they’re-good films like Badass Ravikumar do. But here’s a list of absolute brainrot gems that guarantee some casual, laugh-out-loud fun!
Whether you’ve scrolled the internet endlessly or not, chances are you’ve come across the word brainrot. But with so many different definitions floating around, it can get a little confusing. So what does it actually mean? Simply put, brainrot is when your brain consumes content so absurd, nonsensical, or downright ridiculous that it numbs you for a while. What qualifies as brainrot varies from person to person as it could be anything you find chaotic, illogical, or bizarre. But one thing is universally acknowledged as a truth that currently we live in a world that’s constantly overstimulating with phones buzzing, Reels looping, and ideas colliding. So much so that our brains get so overloaded that sometimes they just want to check out. That’s exactly where brainrot films come in as these aren’t cinematic masterpieces by any stretch of the imagination, but they revive us in their own strange way.
They don’t demand deep thought or logical analysis, if anything, they beg us to set logic aside and surrender to a ride that’s pure chaos, loud, illogical, and often unintentionally hilarious. And paradoxically, that’s the fun of it! And when it comes to brainrot, no one does it quite like Bollywood. These are the films that leave you questioning everything from gravity, physics, logic, or even your own sanity but somehow, you enjoy them all the more for it. They’re over-the-top, campy, and messy in ways that make them unforgettable. More often than not, we laugh at them rather than with them, but in that laughter lies exactly the kind of “rotting entertainment” our minds sometimes need as a breather. Hence they are the perfect escapism in the era where the need to constantly intellectualize takes precedence over emotions!

So here’s a list of Bollywood’s ultimate brainrot gems, those movies that may have baffled us but will forever remain our guilty pleasure.
Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon- Zee5
The peak rot romantic drama. Every expression is dialed up to 100, the background score never takes a breath, and there are animated animals that look straight out of MS Paint. It’s no wonder this film became the centerpiece of Biswa Kalyan Rath and Kanan Gill’s comedy careers.
Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani-Amazon Prime Video/ YouTube
A genre-bending fever dream that tried to mix sci-fi, supernatural horror, and action, all in one film. Instead of awe, it left audiences terrified of the filmmaking itself. Today, it survives as a bottomless meme template and the crown jewel of brainrot cinema.
Gunda- YouTube
The bromance Bollywood didn’t know it needed and still doesn’t. With lines like “Main bhula rakhta hoon sab kuch khula” and performances that redefined “extra,” this one reached such operatic levels of melodrama that it became unforgettable and very quotable.
Tees Maar Khan- Zee5
A heist film where the heist barely mattered, what we got instead was Akshay Kumar in full-blown camp mode, set against Farah Khan’s unapologetic excess. Flashy, loud, and delightfully nonsensical, it’s no Welcome but definitely is brainrot cinema in HD.
Dhamaal- Zee5
A treasure hunt comedy that runs on pure chaos, the plot of this film is thinner than a tissue, but watching some bumbling men stumble their way into one disaster after another is the kind of brainrot rewatch value no one talks about enough.
Golmaal- Amazon Prime Video/ JioHotstar
The film that gave birth to a franchise where logic went to die and only comedy stayed, Rohit Shetty created a universe with this one powered entirely by slapstick, shouting matches, and absurdities, and somehow, audiences couldn’t get enough of it.
Happy New Year- Netflix
A dance competition, a diamond heist, revenge, patriotism, and a cast of dreams that includes SRK, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, AbhishekBachchan and others, this film threw everything at the wall and desperately hoped it would stick. It did years later but mostly as glitter-covered brainrot.
Partner- JioHotstar
Salman Khan and Govinda teamed up where Bhaskar (Govinda) gets trained in the art of seducing Priya (Katrina Kaif) by Prem (Khan) himself. A rom-com so strange that it became a pop culture fixture. With nonsensical comedy, bizarre love lessons, and over-the-top antics, this is brainrot at its most watchable.
Housefull- JioHotstar
Another original that was slowly turned into a franchise yet its first part with mistaken identities, unending coincidences, Akshay Kumar’s screams and comic timing leaves you with a plotline that’s equal parts chaos and nonsense. It’s brainrot that knows exactly what it is and never apologizes.
Karzzz- JioHotstar/ Amazon Prime Video
Himesh Reshammiya’s reincarnation revenge saga, where nasal singing met 80s melodrama, this film may not have achieved classic status, but as an accidental comedy, it’s right up there with the greats and also established an expectation from Reshammiya that was fulfilled once again in Badass Ravikumar.
