Farmers Protest – International pop icon Rihanna and climate change activist Greta Thunberg, US Vice-President Kamala Harris’ niece, Meena Harris, and former adult star Mia Khalifa showed their support by dropping tweets reacting to the ongoing Farmers’ Protest.
Rihanna had earlier shared a news report by CNN about the internet shutdown on the outskirts of Delhi in view of violence during farmers’ protests. Posting a tweet late on Tuesday, the Umbrella singer said, “Why aren’t we talking about this?”
Soon after, Greta Thunberg, in allegiance to the agitation, tweeted, “We stand in solidarity with the Farmers Protest in India.”
Greta’s tweet regarding the “toolkit” to support farmers has led to the investigation by the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police and the debate of International support being an overseas conspiracy.
She deleted the first tweet about it, and reposted today with an updated document.
Though she recently tweeted that,
After international pop icon Rihanna and climate change activist Greta Thunberg created a storm on social media by extending their support to the ongoing farmers’ stir in the country, US Vice-President Kamala Harris’ niece, Meena Harris also shared an image of a woman farmer with a placard that said, “stop killing farmers.”
Meanwhile, condemning the government for the “human rights violations”, Mia Khalifa tweeted, “What in the human rights violations is going on?! They cut the internet around New Delhi?! #FarmersProtest.”

Notably, one of the first batch of replies to Rihanna’s tweet in support of the farmers was from former Indian cricket Pragyan Ojha, who warned her that India does not need an outsider ‘poking her nose’ into its matters. Ojha, however, did not appear to be a part of the concerted hashtag campaign.
Twitteratis showed anguish towards the tweets from Indian celebrities and #SpinelessCelebs is trending as a result.
My country is proud of our farmers and knows how important they are, I trust it will be addressed soon. We don’t need an outsider poking her nose in our internal matters!— Pragyan Ojha (@pragyanojha) February 2, 2021
Diljit – Kangana Twitter war
Kangana Ranaut and Diljit Dosanjh were engaged in a bitter war of words on Twitter. Twitter also took down two tweets by Kangana Ranaut over violation of their rules. The move by Twitter comes a day after Kangana was seen ranting about international star Rihanna’s support on the ongoing farmers’ protest. The actress also made headlines after she called singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh a ‘Khalistani’ and referred to the farmers as ‘terrorists’. This led to several Twitter users reporting Kangana’s account, asking for it to be banned.
A Twitter spokesperson mentioned – “We have taken action on Tweets that were in violation of the Twitter Rules in line with our range of enforcement options.”
Diljit recently released the song ‘RiRi’ dedicated to Rihanna, heaping praises on her and calling her a gift from god. The song was released a day after Rihanna had tweeted in favour of the Farmers’ Protests.
Reacting to Diljit’s song announcement, Kangana had accused the singer-actor of trying to profit from the situation. She wrote –
Isko bhi apne 2 rupees banane hain, yeh sab kabse plan ho raha hai ?One month toh minimum lagega to prep for video and announcement, and libru want us to believe it’s all organic ha ha #Indiatogether #IndiaAgainstPropoganda https://t.co/WvxxRr4T1F— Kangana Ranaut (@KanganaTeam) February 3, 2021
Diljit hit back at Kangana which led to a war of words between the two. He wrote –
