Gehraiyaan on Amazon Prime Video is a film that explores the complexities of modern-day relationships with a new lens. Let's find out what the Janta thought of the film!
Right now all of our timelines are pretty much filled with posts about Shakun Batra's new film Gehraiyaan on Amazon Prime Video. The film explores the messiness and complexities of modern-day relationships with Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa. The story charts the journey of Alisha (Deepika) and Zain (Siddhant), as they confront the ghosts of their respective past on the path that they take to avoid or run from it. The film was released on Amazon Prime Video on February 11th and also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapur in pivotal roles.
Alisha (Deepika) is in a long time living relationship with Karan (Dhairya) whom she knows from her childhood days. While Tia (Ananya) is her cousin and is engaged to Zain (Siddhant) who is a businessman. Desires, their present, and past encapture Alisha and Zain towards each other and they go on a path of cheating on their partners. But human emotions are never that simple and hence everything gets entangled in a web of secrets and lies. This new lens towards infidelity, family, and human emotions have given the audience to talk about a lot. Let's check out what all they have to say!
Here’s what the janta has to say about Gehraiyaan!

So, cheating on your partner is the new cool now? Idk what were they trying to convey.. pathetic storyline and such a toxic film.

Shame on the makers of #Gehraaiyaan I wish I could give a minus rating.
3 takeaways from #Gehraaiyaan
— Navmi (@navmikrishna) February 13, 2022
1. Always log out from web whatsapp
2. Matt finish over the glossy one
3. Do not fuck with folks who do yoga. That core strength is no joke 😨
(seriously though, why is this movie getting so much hate? theek toh tha. ) pic.twitter.com/0llp0LBdmr
Undoubtedly my favorite scene. Dude Naseeruddin just comes in a movie for five minutes and steals the show every time. This scene alone made me want to forgive the rest of the frustrating mess spanning 2 hours. #Gehraaiyaan pic.twitter.com/wNk02yVnWo

Why I loved #Gehraaiyaan
— Rownak Kundu (;) (@RownakKundu) February 16, 2022
1. It didn't glorify infidelity. Rather shows the ugly side of it.
2. Shows how childhood trauma could shape our personality and the type of people we end growing up.
3. Vulnerability of a person when they feel stuck.
6. Last, you need certain knowledge of "movie" to understand what was going on there. People leaving shitty reviews are generally the one that enjoy movies like "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo".

Some lies we tell others

Some we tell our selves
Beneath every lie is a secret
And the deeper you go
The darker it gets...#Gehraaiyaan
The funniest part of #Gehraaiyaan is that Deepika offers water to people stranded in the sea, and boarded her yacht. 😂 What a waste of great camera work and cinematics. The writing is so bad 80% of dialogues and steamy scenes are unnatural and look forced.

You know why a lot of people pushed hate on #Gehraaiyaan ? 😌 (Not the ones offering fair critique)
— Ban_stantine (@The_RealBan) February 15, 2022
1. All main characters including women owned their sexuality
2. Children called out their parents for being uncaring
3. Some men when put on financial stress ruin everything
Watched #Gehraaiyaan. You need to really concentrate to understand a few critical moments. The director has deliberately made it complex. It’s about flawed characters and screwed up relationships. Loved Deepika & music. I would prefer a simple narration! pic.twitter.com/Xs5U3CnvJm

#Gehraaiyaan perfectly shows how men react under pressure and use it to gaslight and justify treating women like a doormat. Men be like yes we are assholes and there's a reason for being one.

Initially i was stressed and now after watching #Gehraaiyaan i am depressed....

My gang and I watched #Gehraaiyaan this weekend. The post-movie discussions lasted for 2h, mostly defending our favorite character. Sure, a few things could have been better. But the fact that this movie leads to a stimulating conversation alone shows how good it is! 7.5/10

I don't know why #Gehraaiyaan is getting so much hate. It was a good movie about complex relationships. May be a little long but still worth watching for good performance from Deepika and Siddhant, good cinematography and writing.

The most annoying part was the forced use of F word In almost every second sentence.
— Anusha (@_anushax_) February 13, 2022
I mean don’t these people talk normally in daily lives? Or is it just cool to use it on screen just for the heck of it 😒#Gehraaiyaan #GehraiyaanReview
#Gehraaiyaan - to a large extent the film was not complex instead it was so toxic.
— Dr. Abiram (@dr_abiram) February 16, 2022
Baring some really good scenes the film was so average.Intense performance by @deepikapadukone 😍😍
Watch out for breakdown scene with her dad
Does karan johar really know what middle class is ? pic.twitter.com/4zFy5AzVnH
liked #Gehraaiyaan for a simple reason that it's not a movie with a protagonist but it's about people who got flaws, messed up past which is affecting their present decisions, complications and chaos happening around and within themselves....

#Gehraiyaan literally wasted 2 + hrs in my life

Why did #Gehraaiyaan get such lousy reviews? I thought it was a decent watch. It showed a mirror to the society. It might not exactly be us, but aren’t there people who’re over-ambitious, highly aspirational for want of a “happening” life. And that takes a toll on relationships.
