Today at the sixth edition of Google For India, Google announced a new $10B digitization fund to help accelerate India’s digital economy.
An effort to push the digitization of India forward, Google CEO, Sundar Pichai at #GoogleForIndia announced to give India a fund of $10B. This is being seen as a major help to support the Indian economy in the times of darkness and to strengthen PM Modi’s vision for Digital India.
The online conference was held today which was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, where a host of technological and business announcements were made including expanding the scope of digital payments and manufacturing low-cost smartphones to benefit the people.

Along with the PM of India, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad was part of the event to discuss the digital future of India.
“India’s app economy growing very powerfully and it is important not just to download but to upload apps as well,” said Prasad. “We are working towards developing one lakh digital villages across India and I would appreciate it if Google could pick a cluster of these villages and make them model villages in terms of skilling and delivery of telemedicine,” he added.
Google also mentioned the work it has done to bring over 26 million small and medium businesses online and has helped spread internet connectivity to the outskirts of India, along with its work on using technology to promote education, agriculture and more.
