The Diplomat starring John Abraham released on the big screen on March 14 and here's what the Janta is saying about the action thriller!
'The Diplomat' is an action drama directed by Shivam Nair and written by Ritesh Shah. The film is inspired by real events and features John Abraham in the lead role as Indian diplomat J.P. Singh, navigating a complex and high-stakes mission. The plot centers around J.P. Singh's efforts to repatriate an Indian woman, Uzma Ahmed, portrayed by Sadia Khateeb, who seeks refuge in the Indian embassy in Islamabad, claiming she was forced into marriage in Pakistan. The film also stars Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi, and Revathy in pivotal roles.
‘The Diplomat’ has garnered overwhelmingly positive reactions from the Janta. Many found it a refreshing, tightly woven political drama, and appreciated it for its engaging narrative and realistic portrayal of diplomatic challenges. The film avoids excessive jingoism and unnecessary drama, opting instead for a balanced and nuanced perspective. John Abraham's performance is particularly praised, with viewers noting his strong and effective portrayal of the lead character. The fact that the story is based on real events adds to its impact.

Have been fed up of masala loud action films these days…What a relief to have a no-nonsense engaging political drama that has enough thrills as well. What’s more shocking is it’s a true story. We have seen a lot of movies on soldiers but less on diplomats
#TheDiplomat is an average watch for me, last 15 mins are thrilling but the rest feels like a Q&A session. Needed more tension and drama throughout. John delivered a standout performance & I felt Sadia's character deserved a A-lister to do justice to the role.

Tightly woven, brilliantly directed, and deftly executed. No jingoism and no unnecessary, tone deaf drama.
Give it a watch in the theatre. pic.twitter.com/HS80UdX0Az

John always looks solid in such thrillers. Typical 2010s-style drama backed by good acting performances. No jingoism but very subtle in its messaging. Pace is good & political angle is on point. Liked it. Much better than what I expected. Sadia Khateeb is brilliant. pic.twitter.com/x9ECAqCrDS
