Shreyas Talpade’s Kaun Pravin Tambe was released on Disney+Hotstar on April 1 and it’s safe to say that the janta loved this film!
Produced by Fox Star Studios, Kaun Pravin Tambe is the real-life story of Indian cricketer, Pravin Tambe who refused to believe in the limitations of ageism and followed his dreams no matter what it took. Shreyas Talpade’s detailed portrayal of Pravin Tambe is one for the books. He brings authenticity to the character and the parts where he has to play cricket will give you goosebumps if you compare his character with real-life Pravin Tambe on the cricket field. The film is directed by Jayprad Desai who accurately brings out the essence of how lakhs of young boys in our country dream of playing in those blue uniforms. Some other pivotal characters in the film are Ashish Vidyarthi as Pravin Tambe’s coach, who taught the cricketer some important lessons about the sport. Chayya Kadam and Arun Nalawade play Pravin Tambe’s parents. Anjali Patil plays Pravin Tambe’s supporting wife and Parambrata Chatterjee plays Rajat Sanyal, a sports journalist.
In a country that is heavily impacted by cricket, Kaun Pravin Tambe is a story that desperately needed to be put out in the world to showcase what aspiring cricketers in our country go through on a daily basis. What happens before someone makes it as one of 11 players on a cricket team? They have to carry their heavy kitbags in crowded local trains, go to the maidan, and practice from early morning till dusk. They do all of this and more with only a love for cricket in their hearts and the fire in them to contribute their talent to further enlarge their country’s honor. Before his big break in IPL, Pravin Tambe was a struggling cricketer all through his life up until he was 40 years old. He did not let the constant disappointment erase his hopes of playing cricket professionally someday. Time was falling out of his hands along with the patience of the people around him. He rightfully says in the movie that if you’re successful at what you do then you’re great and if not, you’re considered crazy. Talking about tournaments like Times Shield and Ranji Trophy will prove to be relatable for so many young boys watching the film. For people who are not well-versed with the sport, this movie gives you a raw insight into the hard work of the players, the competitive nature of the sport, and the sheer luck one needs to be recognized by the right people.
