Netflix's Kohrra revolves around two policemen investigating the case of an NRI bridegroom found dead in Jagrana, Punjab.
Over the years Netflix has given us intriguing crime shows that not only entertain us but also make us ponder about society. Joining the list of Netflix gems like Paatal Lok, Sacred Games, Delhi Crime, and others is the recently released 'Kohrra'. This one revolves around two policemen investigating the case of an NRI bridegroom found dead in the village of Jagrana, Punjab. The description of the series reads, "After a dead body is found, cops Balbir and Garundi uncover links to a wedding and a missing foreigner. A father's rage pulls him down a rageful path." Starrring Suvinder Vicky, Barun Sobti, Harleen Sethi, and multiple other actors, Kohrra is directed by Randeep Jha.
The Janta seems to be mighty impressed with this crime thriller as it is earning a lot of praise. From the script to acting, the Janta is loving all aspects of the show. Hansal Mehta, the director of Scam 1992 and Scoop, himself wrote a lengthy tweet praising the series. He wrote, "Well written, excellently directed and unabashedly authentic this is Indian storytelling at its best. Kudos Sudip Sharma, Gunjit, Diggy and Randeep Jha. Terrific work on editing and sound design. The moody yet unobtrusive cinematography is more than effective. Terrific work guys. Take a bow."
Pet themes from Paatal Lok and Udta Punjab show up in different ways in the quite spectacular Kohrra on @NetflixIndia. Cop buddies, drugs, crime and so many fucked up people inhabit a haunting world set somewhere in Punjab. Some terrific performances by @Suvinder_Vicky and…

Just finished binge watching mesmerizing #Kohrra. Superbly written, directed with performances to die for. So complex yet accessible on a very basic humane level. The absolute best to come out of India since ages.

Wildly going unnoticed on Netflix, just like #CAT & deserves your attention. Disturbing, nuanced & an exceptional Suvinder Vicky supported by a confident Barun Sobti!

There are certain faces MADE for the camera to fall in love with their every look of hope or hopelessness, discovery or emptiness, desire or despair; every smile, frown, stare, wince;

Two episodes into @Randeepjha's incredible new show #Kohrra on Netflix—a perfect testament of the power of restrained storytelling. It's impossible for any creative person to come out of this experience uninspired. The unexpected black humour is the icing on the cake. Don't miss. pic.twitter.com/RngxK8FDOD

#Kohrra by @Randeepjha ft. @suvinder_vicky & @BarunSobtiSays is a riveting & relentless piece of filmmaking. The only series post Pataal Lok which has touched & moved me so much. The commentary & subtext is so rich. Leave everything & watch it ASAP. Easily, this year’s best. pic.twitter.com/aaqWpzClCS

The show is raw and has avoided the clichés which turns out to be a big plus to the series and has also dealed with all the topics well.
Having watched more brutal cop films this isn't something new to me but wasn't that bad either.
Decent watch. pic.twitter.com/McZbc9wl6D
Right, so on to usual business.

Finished off Kohrra on Netflix. Solid neo-noir. Goes deep into the heart of Punjab, and takes us through the shaded streets of the rich and the tiniest lanes of the have nots.
Excellent performances from the cast, Suvinder Vicky leading the show.
Kohrra on Netflix is a perfect binge-worthy crime thriller. Never seen such a raw and naturally acted TV show, so much so that it doesn't look like it is acted. We need more films and TV from Sudip Sharma, he is really one of the best right now!
