These Instagram artists depict mental health issues with their incredible art

Instagram has become a great platform for artists to share their piece and talk about issues we all can talk about. We have listed some of the best mental health art by some of the Instagram artists.

There are a number of things that Indians, in general, don't want to or wish to discuss. With a bunch of stigmas and stereotypes attached to everything, people find it weird and awkward to talk about these issues. And mental health always tops the list. Mental health issues are something that has to be spoken about openly to let people know that they are not alone in this and that it is okay to feel the way they feel. With social media becoming the fourth element of our basic necessity deal, talking about mental health has become a lot easier. People are inspiring others to talk about their feeling by sharing their own. Instagram artists are contributing to the same with their beautiful illustrations. With creative and outstanding artistry, these Instagram artists are depicting real-life issues with their mental health art.

Take a look at these incredible mental health art:

Keep your claws off our choice. Stop policing our bodies. Stop making legislative decisions so you can own us. And when we're having conversations about reproductive health rights, let's be more mindful of our language and advocacy to ensure we're including trans and non binary people, and their struggles. Abortions are not only for cis women. Also, I hope we can keep these conversations going, we need to weed out the layered deep rooted stigma associated with abortion. In India for instance, it's legal technically, but it's not a right - it comes with various conditions. Just read a couple of stories, talk to a few people and you'll get a sense of how horrid the on ground implementation of the law is. In fact so many people die from unsafe abortions every single day. It's seen as shameful to get one. Because going to the doctor and asking for it leads to moral policing, at the very least. Oh, and yes, sometimes they contact your family and complain to shame you, ensure you pay for your 'mistakes', because who cares about your choice right? The whole experience itself is extremely traumatic. Anyway, my point is bodily autonomy over every other damn thing. Keep those claws off our choice. Keep those claws off our bodily autonomy.

I drew this a last year after I went to a wedding alone while in a major depressive episode. I was 100% in the shit and had been for a while. Also I had upped my meds and I think they made me semi suicidal (which I’ve never really been before or since). I went back down in dosage after the wedding cause I was like WELL THIS IS A NEW FEELING. I remember on the drive up I was in my suit and depression-diarrhea-ing at a highway rest stop. I had gotten a large iced tea from Starbucks (in an attempt to caffeinate my way back into the world of the living) and I put the iced tea on top of the toilet paper dispenser and as I’m wiping my butt the iced tea slides off the toilet roll dispenser and upends into my pants which are still around my ankles. The entire cup empties. All the ice too. Sometimes having hardcore, oil black depression gives you superpowers. Because I just stood up, pulled up my soaked suit pants, and walked out of the bathroom. It didn’t matter. Because it doesn’t matter if someone farts in a room already covered in shit. Ice cubes still tumbled out of my pant legs as I walked back to my car. I just went to the wedding.

IT IS OKAY TO REST, repeat after me! Also, is it weird if I tag myself here? @pranitart HEAR (lol, sorry) Tag those who need this! ⠀ -⠀ #SurvivingAnxiety (9/10) is a series of illustrations that help deal with anxiety. We often have moments of crippling anxiety & helplessness. This #MentalHealthAwareness Month, I'm illustrating every small help that I received & discovered to reduce my anxiety. These are purely based on my personal experience & may not help everyone in need. Anxiety comes from deep rooted causes, in order to identify those & to bring about a change, please reach out to a professional therapist. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #1510 #pranitasdrawingaday #illustrationartist #thegridlife #illustree #illustrationdaily #comic #type #lettering #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmay #illustrationartist #thegridlife #illustree #illustration #watercolour #watercolourillustrations #anxiety #depression #therapy #cripplinganxiety #selfcare #selfcareisimportant #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealthawareness #grounding #journalling #indianillustrator

Learning to be comfortable with the discomfort can help us understand ourselves better. It is often very difficult to identify our feelings by ourselves. I'd 100% recommend finding yourself a professional therapist who can help you through this process. i have been feeling like this lately, i don’t know why. it’s not negative or positive, good or bad, it just IS. i’m on holiday but mental illness doesn’t take breaks. my moods have been really intense lately, i have been feeling really temperamental. i’m either smiling from cheek to cheek, or about to crawl out of my own skin because i’m discontent in the present moment. i’m usually really good at putting words to what i’m feeling but lately i’ve been struggling to track my moods in my app because i don’t even know what to classify my current mood as, haha. emotions are complex ! right this moment, as i’m writing this (and listening to project runway in the background) i feel content, so that’s nice. gotta treasure these times of comfort and equanimity ? • • • #mentalhealth #mentalillness #mentalhealthawareness #psynligt #nostigma #mentalhealthwarrior #recovery #schizophrenia #eatingdisorder #bulimia #anorexia #arfid #ptsd #borderline #bpd #ocd #bipolar #bipolardisorder #anxiety #depression #pain #chronicillness #adhd #art #digitalart #artistsoninstagram #comic #crazyheadcomics

SWIPE?? It’s sad that we mostly see representation only around women’s day, each year. It’s almost as if brands and companies suddenly start to dig into their “women tank” and start scooping up these “heartwarming/inspiring/success” stories. Then we let these stories sit somewhere in the back of our minds, gathering dust only to be dug out again and polished for the next women’s day. Also, companies that give out cupcakes/care packages all dolled up in pink ribbons/have spa days for women employees, well, thank you for noticing. But it’d be really nice if you also offered safe work spaces, clean accessible washrooms, harassment and sexism free environment, paid maternity leaves, and equal pay. And if you can, refrain from asking women to wear red or pink on women’s day. Thank you. #representation #societalstandards #beauty #representationmatters #howdoyouseeyourself #womensday #equality #safespacesforwomen #illustrations #doodleodrama
