Asha Bhosle is one of the most legendary singers of our country and while it was rather difficult to narrow down her vast discography, here are some iconic songs that we could never skip from our playlists!
The very first time Asha ji made her singing debut was in 1943 in a Marathi film called Majhe Bal. And over the years, her career spanned over eight decades which included singing songs in various musical genres such as ghazals, bhajans, Indian classical music, folk songs and qawwalis and in more than 20 Indian and foreign languages. She was and always will be one of the most cherished playback singers of Indian cinema. She is the recipient of many awards such as the Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, National award and many Filmfare awards. She was blessed with such a golden voice that could conquer songs of any genre. She truly played a core part in the retro time of Bollywood and gave us songs that actually resonate with people across generations!
She has had a solid musical partnership with all her music composers like R.D. Burman, A.R. Rahman, Ravi, Khayyam, O.P. Nayyar. In collaboration with all of them she delivered some of her major hits such as ‘Ude Jab Jab Zulfein Teri’, ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne’, ‘Radha Kaise Na Jale’, among many others. She is also one of the very few Indian artists who has been nominated for a Grammy. Her voice had the ability to change your mood. She had a certain depth for sad and sober songs but she also brought a fun element to the table for songs that needed to be more cheerful!
Check out some of our favorite songs from the versatile genius!
Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar
In Aankhon Ki Masti
Haal Kaisa Hai Janab Ka
Parde Mein Rehne Do
Kahin Aag Lage Lag Jaave
Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main
Chhod Do Aanchal Zamana Kya Kahega
Yeh Raatein Yeh Mausam
Jawani Janemann Haseen Dilruba
Dum Maaro Dum
Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko
Yeh Ladka Hai Allah
Hawa Ke Saath Saath
Ek Main Aur Ek Tu
Happiest Birthday to the living legend whose songs will always bring a smile on our faces and we'll simply never get tired of listening to them!
